Startech Exhaust Tip

Hi, starting off with the easy modifications first, as the Patriot is still under warranty, so I've purchased the Startech Exhaust tip.

The instructions that came with it are all in German, so has anyone put one on themselves ?? Do the instructions just translate to weld A to B, or is there anything else ??

I've never ERD, sorry heard of having to weld an exhaust trim on the tail pipe before.:doh: Most of them just seem to be clamped on. I had an after market chrome tail pipe but because I've got a rear bar it sometimes banged against the support bracket so now I've removed it and found that my exhaust has gone a bit rusty.:mad:

Oh well, i´m not good in technical translations but i will give it a try:

1. Check if if the exhaust will fit on the muffler (see above)

2. Cut the original exhaust (without inserts) to a length that it won´t disturb the look but the minimum length should be about 30-50mm.

(next one is hard to understand and translate)
3.Tweak the length and conditions of the replacement exhaust and weld it tight to the endplate of the muffler.

PS: And no, i´m not the guy who made regulary the english translations of chinese manuals! ;)

I got my tail pipe trim £7.99 from Halfords. Its been on my Caliber, Patriot & now Avenger. Takes about 30 secs to fit!!...just two small bolts & a spanner!

Tip on Tips Pat.

Exhaust tip on my old Pat.------Cheap & Cheerful---I think Ebay is full of them

Did you have to cut your original one since it isn't straight? I'd really like to get one but want to make sure it fits ok as Patriot's stock tip is curved. Yes, I've seen a lot of them on ebay but don't know which one would work for sure and wouldn't look even more uglier than the stock one.

The diesel exhaust is quite straight, The gas engines point downwards ( My old Caliber did & the tip looked a little silly0. However the tip on the Avenger ( gas ) is straight so it looks better again
