Hey Everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I started hearing a squeak coming from the engine. At first I thought perhaps the serpentine belt needed to be replaced, but I have had those fail on other vehicles before and it just didn't sound right.

To me it sounds like a bad bearing that is just starting to fail. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the flex pipe on the exhaust needed to be replaced. They have since replaced it and the squeak was still there albeit not as persistent as before but still there.

On Sunday it got really bad and I stuck my head down inside the engine compartment and it sounds like it is in the vescinity of the water pump. I was curious if anyone else has enountered this noise before?

I did try some searching but didn't get any hits so I just wanted to ask. I am hoping that it is the belt and not the water pump, but if it is the pump at least it is still under warranty :D

Perhaps, I was at the dealership again today and they tell me they can't hear the noise which didn't surprise me because I only barely heard it a couple of times today.

They say they checked the belt and tensioners and everything appears fine.

Last Thursday the squeak finally came back loud enough that the dealership could hear it.

The tech took a look and said that it sounds like it is coming from the water pump which is what I said the last time I had it in. They have ordered a new water pump and serpentine belt so hopefully between those two it will get fixed. :pepper:

Well, it has been a few weeks since they replaced the water pump and belt and the noise hasn't returned. So it was the water pump.

On the service forms the description said the dry sealed bearing in the water pump had failed.
