Black side moldings on red Patriot?

My 2010 FDII has no body side moldings.
I know the usual approach is to use the same color (red on red), but I thought black strips might look cool.
Anyone tried this?
Any thoughts?

Black strips would look great. There is already a fair amount of black trim so they would match just fine. (i.e. top of bumper, roof, tinted windows ect.)

Also, in the event you actually use the molding (i.e. it gets bumped) the last thing you want to worry about is painting it.

I agree, with all the other black on my red Pat, I would also choose black if I added those.

I agree. I had a red cherokee with black moldings and it looked great.

I have the JEEP GREEN with black body side moldings (with a chrome strip) and they look good. Like someone else said, there is enough black on the Patriot so that the black molding does look good. Check out the link for my photos.

I've been looking around and it seems the best way to get moldings that fit properly would be to buy the Patriot Limited moldings (which are silver) and then paint them black (matte) with a good automotive enamel. Think that would work?
