Have some cash to throw at the old patriot this month anyone know of a nice exhaust system maybe a header too that doesn't sound like a weedeater for the patriot? I would like it to be as deep a tone as possible, yes I know its a four cylinder. Any other engine mods I should look into perfomance wise? Factory warranty is up in 2k miles so now its time to play!
Anyone know a good exhaust system??

your might check into the Mopar Performance 'cat back' system for the Caliber. very similar set up and 'could be' a direct replacement fit on 4X2 Patriots and Compass'. if you have a 4X4, then you might consider a system made for the AWD Caliber R/T.

All those Jeeps and you don't know what kind of muffler to put on your Patriot? Yes I do have a Hushpower Muffler on my Patriot. You joined in 2008, where you been? There are members using all kinds of different muffler set-ups. The Hushpower is a very nice sounding muffler. Some people have all the answers about modifications they have not even done. Those of you who know all about the mods but DON'T do them, start to annoy those of us who do. Start Firing all you couch modifiers, heck I call Fish!

Wrong on the deep sounding Muffler, if the Hushpower didn't have a nice tone, I would have taken it off and put it in my pile of Jeep parts and Mufflers. There are other Members that have catbacks and other Mufflers on their Patriots and are happy with the sound of them. Those of you with Muffler Mods speak-up.

Magnaflow Cat-Back
I put a Magnaflow Cat-Back on mine. The muffler shop that installed it had to bend one of the pipes to get it to fit. When I called Manaflow about this, they said it was because my Jeep is a 4X4 and their system was made for the front wheel drive. If you have a 4X4, I would try the Gibson, it specifies that it will fit on a 4X4. Anyhow, I like the sound of my cat-back, not too loud, in fact, My AEM intake is louder, but when you have the windows down, or are outside of the vehicle you can really notice it:smiley_thumbs_up:.

As Kahbrohn is wondering, is there in increase in low end power and acceleration?
I've READ while researching, as any mindful person would do before altering a vehicle, that aftermarket/performance exhuasts may increase mid-hihgh range power, but might decrease low-end power. Has to do with the loss of back pressure, and this may not be noticable on hihg-power engines.
For our I4 I'm afraid I'll lose low-end power/torque, which I prefer to keep so it's there to get me up steep inclines and out of mud on my occasional adventures. As far as volume, I think we';ll hear the engine and exhaust pretty much all the time anyhow, so why not make it sound good.
After catching Earthworm's short clip of his mod'ed 'Riot, and comparing it to a couple other videos on youtube, I am starting to lean more in favor of the Flowmaster Hushpower. Problem is, so many people put the darn camera right up the tailpipe and the microphones on most camera's pick up all the air noise insted of the exhaust note...

MBRP cat back easy install
The MBRP cat back installed with no issues or pipe bending. Tone is OK and there are no undesirable side effects at any speed. Mpg went up much more than I expected as did apparent power (I measured the mpg the power is an opinion).

Well, I installed my AEM intake before the exhaust, so I really didn't notice a difference. My rig is a manual, so I can take the RPM's up to about 4 or 5 grand out of the hole, if I need to. I don't do that very often, but with the intake and exhaust, the engine doesn't sound like it's going to blow, like it would with all being stock. Another reason I changed out the exhaust was for ascetics, as most of us will agree the stock muffler is an UGLY eye sore!
I don't know, maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be, but I like it! As my 3 year old son would say,"Vroom, Vroom, faster, faster!"

It does sound manly and the engine breathes a little better. It seems to run a bit better, but then it could be like when you wash your vehicle and clean the inside real nice, then you take it for a ride especially at night then you notice how much better it runs. You know the feeling ?
