When I bought my pat the dealer had given me a "free oil change for life card". The fine print says I'm allowed 4 oil changes per year for as long as I own the Jeep. Has anyone else received this promo? and do you know if it is per calendar year (Jan - Jan) or yearly from when you purchased the vehicle?

I'm probably going to need 5 / year so planning to do one myself in the summer months.

I got something similar, but I got Chrysler Service Contract coupons to turn in.

6000 miles is way too long for my liking. I change mine every 3000. I know the specs say 6000m, but I would say those specs are for people who don't really value their vehicle. The last oil change I did was around 4000 .. and the oil was very black and dirty. My jeep runs much better on fresh oil... and I get better gas mileage when she's running clean...so why not have it done more regularly (especially if it is free... or if youre only paying $4 for each).

I have the life-time warranty so as long as I follow the manual it does not matter. For other vehicles, I use extended Mobil 1 and it does go for 1 year/ 15K miles. Have been following this strategy for 25 years with no engine part failures yet. Most cars were driven at least 100K.

I have the same deal from our dealer, lifetime LOF at 4 per calender year and a letter in my name to prove it. I insist on Mobil 1 Synthetic oil and the dealer charges me $60 CAD extra for this. I change oil every 8k km or 5k miles and would change oil more often with regular oil. We average about 35k km per year. The gimmick with this free LOF deal seems to be that the dealer wants to do all kinds of extra maintenance things that are not in the owner's manual but I only get done what I know is in the book.
