I'm new to this forum and new to Jeep. I've driven Audis since 1984 and they've been great, if a little pricey to maintain and repair. Audi driver forums had been a great help, so when I bought a 2010 Patriot I found this forum. Looks like a similar group of good folks willing to share experiences.
I decided this time to get a less expensive car for the 45 mile-commute; one that would still be fun to drive and not look like a bottom-feeder. I liked the Jeepish look of the Patriot, My wife's Chrysler minivans have been stellar, and found I liked the stiffer (Audi-like) ride more than other little utes. The more I drive the car the more I like it, and I'm pretty sure a replacement mirror will cost less than $1,200... and a transmission service will be less than $1,000...
[At 600 miles (!) I lost an AC condenser to a rock. I've already used the forum to find a way to stop that.]:smiley_thumbs_up:
Other than that, the only downside is that my wife was afraid to drive my allroad but drives the Patriot anytime I'm away, and has been asking to borrow it when she knows I'm not going anywhere.
I may have to buy another.
PS: Can't believe the name Pat-riot wasn't taken by someone named Pat... Too corny?
