I have a 09 patriot limited with the sun/sound package. I have noticed a lot lately that when using the steering wheel radio controls there is some sort of a short? For example, when using the circle button on the left side of the wheel that flips through preset stations, it will cause an issue to turn the volume level all the way down. It's more of annoyance than anything and I'm going to bring it in to have it looked at, but i'm thinking that since i've had the dreaded leaking front dome light that maybe some water got in somewhere and is causing the issue...maybe i should just ask for a whole new radio...

For a second there... I thought a radio control system had been installed to steer the Patriot... sheeezzzz... was a bad weekend for me.

I agree. Water damage (leak or condensation depending on your location), mainly shorting out of the controls. May just require a good drying/cleaning out. As for the volume issue, I know some radios come with an auto volume control for driving conditions. Go through your manual and play with the settings (if auto volume available) to make sure that this is not the case.

Let us know how it turns out. I am almost positive this is not the first time I hear of this issue but don't recall ever seeing what solution (if any) was posted.
