We have a 2007 Patriot.. Love the vehicle HATE HATE the leak! Have had it to multiple dealerships and they all act as if they have NEVER heard of a leaking Patriot. Only one dealership here where I live has even attempted to deal with this matter. They have been WONDERFUL but alas it has not helped. We continue to leak when it rains or snows, however when it is "water tested" at the dealership it stays dry! Seals have been replaced, rails have been replaced. The Chrysler "A" team has given up on it. Repair logs show no problem found but yet I have pictures of the leaks AND the one dealership has witnessed the dripping headliner and cargo light full of water. It has been enough to make me angry at Chrysler for not stepping up and admitting there is a problem (evident by the number of leaking posts on here). The headliner has been completely removed by a local body shop and they spotted a weld that could have caused the problem. The dealership took care of it, then the next big rain I'm leaking again. I have less than 24,000 miles on this '07 and warranty and payments that I continue to make on a faulty vehicle. :(

I have the same problem with a 2009 Patriot.

It is so frustrating. What recourse will you be taking?

re leaking lemon

Not sure what our options are. On our way to the dealership in OKC where we bought this thing to see how they react. Would like to know more how others have resolved this matter. Chrysler says lemon law does not apply here. Would like to know more about buy-back options or the name of a lawyer.

When I got my 08 That night it had a leak in the backseat, brought it back to the dearlership and told them and they had no problem in takign it back and giveing me another one, of course we own 4 jeeps in the family. and we all bought form the same guy.. idk if that had anything to do with them taking it back

Sorry to hear of this, it's so annoying too. Have they looked at the aerial fitting assuming it's fitted on the roof at the back. Are you in the UK?

I live in the Oklahoma in the US. Had a very long discussion with the dealership last weekend. Waiting to see what happens now. Last time I took this 07 in for "Inspection" for the leak was told they found nothing. Taken in on the 22nd of Feb. (Monday) and picked it up on Mar.5 (Friday). They water tested with "many gallons" of water and found nothing. So the report said "no problem found." On Sunday it began a slow drizzle that continued through the night. I was leaving for work this a.m. and heard the tell-tale sound of water dripping as I backed out of the drive. Stopped and checked and sure enough... rear cargo light full of water and a new leak down the side of the rear panel near where the cargo net would hook. BACK to the dealership here to have them document ONCE AGAIN this thing has a problem. ANd yes wiper hose, satelite fitting, roof rails, improper welds, seals, and every thing in between has been pushed, poked prodded or replaced.

Trying to bluff me probably. Someone was kind enough to post a site for lemon law for me.. Thanks I will certainly do some more checking.. The old adage "When they see a woman coming" fits in this case apparently. I am so glad I stumbled upon this forum. Thanks everyone for the support!

The Lemon Laws are quite clear. I am surprised so few people know about their rights and that after 4 repairs they can get the purchase price back in many cases.

Call Chrysler customer service directly and they will be able to open a case on your behalf. In most cases, they will be able to press the issue with your local dealer a little better than you do. The dealer is reluctant to spend any more of their time and money on messing with your vehicle, but chances are, Chrysler will be a little bit more loyal to you in order to maintain goodwill and good publicity. This was my solution and I'm not leak free for over a year.

this is how you solve it. say:

"this is the (insert number of times) i've been here to get the same problem fixed. I cant miss any more work, and i cant believe you cant find a water leak. If i have to come here one more time to get the water leak fixed i will bring a lawyer with me"

that works.

Lemon laws:
Term of Protection:

The term of protection is one year or 15,000 miles of use from the date of original delivery, whichever comes first. This means that the defects you are complaining about and the required repair attempts must occur during this period. However, the manufacturer’s final repair attempt can take place after the term of protection.
Substantial Impairment:

The Lemon Law only covers serious defects- those which substantially impair the use, market-value or safety of the vehicle. The law does not list the defects which are considered substantial. You must be able to demonstrate specifically how the use, safety or market value of your vehicle is substantially impaired by the defect. For example, to prove market value impairment, you must show that your vehicle is worth at least 10 percent less than it would be without the defect. Although a defect may be annoying, it is not necessarily substantial.
i took that quote from this website. Theres a lot more there, so go read: http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=ocaterminal&L=4&L0=Home&L1=Consumer&L2=Autos+and+Transportation&L3=Auto+Repair&sid=Eoca&b=terminalcontent&f=the_new_and_leased_car_lemon_law&csid=Eoca

Have you told your dealer about your leak yet Glenda?? If not get them to check it out as soon as possible , dont just live with it!! If its an 08 model you should have some warranty left.:smiley_thumbs_up:
