Hello All -

First, I want to say that I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 6 Speed, but the woman needed a new car. She really wanted a Ford Escape or GMC Terrain, but while we were searching, her mom wanted to look at a Patriot. So I did all this research on prices, reviews, etc on a Patriot and sent it to her. After all that work she ends up buying a Tuscon  ! So the Jeep dealership is last in a row of auto dealers. Then I see it - A silver Patriot in the showroom with a BIG 17,900 across the windshield.. then I noticed it had the "Trail Rated" stamp on it.. So now I know it has the FD II package, I'm getting a little excited, but thought "It was used, or a manual".. NOPE! Auto and Brand New (Just with the FD II Package and Auto)!! I bought it on the spot! The lady was upset that it didn't have the "amenities", like power locks, cruise control, :blah: - so I had to spring for them. Oh well!

This is a really cool truck! I've been driving it lately with no complaints at all. I didn't even consider the Patriot, since it was on the "smaller" side, compared to the Liberty and Escape. But for 4,500 less WITH 4X4, you just can't beat it.

I was just real excited when I purchased this truck, I didn't even know it came with an off-road package. Now I am off to explore your forum to see what kinda trouble... I mean upgrades I can put on this beast! I hope it's not just a Wrangler thing :p

Take care and thanks for reading! - NC

it is a Jeep thing...

Hello,
You ran into a similar scenario as myself, except you got away with a better price. I also considered other compact/mid-size SUVs, but I liked the price and the off-road features so I drove it. I liked it better than some other GMC and Chysler vehicles I looked into, and I just knew I had to ave 4x4 or at least AWD. It can hang with Wranglers on the trail BTW :smiley_thumbs_up:, though you may hear a few more scrapes in the MK, there is practically a flat underside so you'll be able to slide over stuff while the the relatively sturdy skids protects the vitals.

K&N as a full cold air intake kit, I intend to get one soon, Rocky Road Outfitters offers a 2.15" lift kit (spacers and longer rear upper control arms) and Rock Rails or SuperSliders...on my wish list as well. Tires; the general census is to not go over 30" diameter.

For the most part if you think it might fit or look good on your 'Riot, use the search feature and you'll likely find several postings at least! Have fun on and off road!

Nice choice & " Trail Rated " --Lucky you popped into the dealer--Welcome to the Family!

I saw that Rocky Road lift kit  !! It looks sweet!
Maybe I should of got the Escape, I would be less inclined to upgrade it ! NOT!! Money is overrated anyways, right? I'll always make more... Just ask him -> :hammertime:

Also, I took a pic of the front windshield! I will post soon!

Hi and welcome JK-Rocket ... seems like the Jeep Patriot has some kind of magical attraction with a buy me right now thing to it on many people. It was the same with me ... never even knew a Jeep Patriot existed at all and explored dozens of other brands. Then saw the Pat :wow: ... sat in it :smiley_thumbs_up: ... drove it :latchon: ... bought it on the spot :Racing:

Congratulations, enjoy your rig! Any pics???

JK, I know you don't mean that!!! My Xscape can barely clear its nose in a Jeep trail rut.
Good luck with your Riot.
