I have the remote oilcooler kit installed, this pre magnetic filter screws on first between the cooler and the actual oil filter. I have heard of other jeep models using it and also the military. Magnafilter Oil Filter M1F3002215 fits the jeep patriot. Has anyone tried it?

When I decide its time to take my Magna Filter off, I'm going to cut it to pieces and see if had picked up anything. My Patriot has less than 10,000 miles as I don't drive it everyday, so it may be awhile. It may not show anything who knows?

Where did you find all the MagnaFilters you cut to pieces, in the dumpster? Those must have been some clean engines, if you didn't find anything. I couldn't find any negative information. Could you Post some. Maybe the engine failures were engines manufactured by the Holden Company, which Gm has or had interests in. Maybe the engines were put in Daewoos who knows?

Seems pointless if you use a good oil filter. A decent filter will be 98% efficient down to 20 microns, and something like a Pure One or Baldwin is even better then that, 99% at 10 microns or something. Anything under 30 microns isn't going to cause any excess wear to your engine anyway.
The only wear metal a magnet will attract is iron, and there are other wear metals that occur in an engine other then iron.

Good point on your part. I thought I'd give it a try, I don't think it can hurt anything. Whats the point in using Amsoil too, it's so expensive. I guess from now on I'll put some WalMart oil in it next time. You don't know what kind of filter I use, also I don't look at it so scientifically. Thanks for the feedback.

Don't knock the Supertech, it performs very well for the price!

Couldn't find Magna filter on auto anything's site. Guess it has a magnet somewheres in it to trap ferrous debris. I'd use the external magnets and move them filter to filter.
I use Motorcraft 5w-20, it's always cheap at WMart.
