I got lucky with my Patriot. When we were switching plates I looked for the Dealer Bling and I was told they didnt put any on. I guess they put it on every vehicle as soon as it hits the lot but somehow mine got overlooked. The saleslady was just a surprised as anyone that it wasnt on...

Most just put a plate frame with their name on it, some put a decal on the back. This seems to be a regional thing, in some areas dealers are very hung up on it, the NE comes to mind, and in others they dont really care. I have not seen anybody putting those riveted placards that were popular back in the 70s. NE dealers also seem to love putting mud flaps on trucks and vans with a huge dealer ad on the bottom.

part of my deal was that the ugly stickers were removed from the PAT, at first they told me they wern't sure if they could get them off, but when I told them i wasn't sure i could buy it there, they were able to get them off

For our first oil change we handed them our plates and our frames, took away all their advertising. Didn't realize it was a california thing not to have anything extra, but it was nice!!

slightly off topic...

I got a box in the mail yesterday from "Pelegrino Jeep/Chrysler." So my fiance calls me and says there's a package there about the size of a license plate and about 8 pounds. I figure, "Damn that much be the payment books!" But it turns out the dealership mailed me 3 Jeep coffee mugs, 3 Jeep T-shirts, a handful of stickers, and a $98 check for "Excess charges for Motor Vehicle fees." ... SWEET!

I have a friend with a wrangler and he said that it will eventually just fall off, but it you don't want to wait for that, I think maybe a hairdryer will work to loosen up the adhesive**

** dtocks is not responsible for any damage caused by his suggestion LOL.

My dealer put his sticker on the back of my Patriot even though I had asked them not to. I took it off myself which was surprisingly easy - it came off leaving just a little residue. I went slowly, but I didn't need to apply heat or anything. Guess theres a lot of sticker types out there.

I told my sales rep I didn't want dealer sticker on car before I picked it up. He said no problem. I did this cause I do not want to pull sticker off with a slim possibility of paint coming off with it! The dealer did put on their plate on rear. I eventually took it off because I noticed the frame was hitting the paint after hitting bumps on road/closing tailgate. Now I just have a temp plate until my new plates come in. I will probably order the chrome Jeep frame for my plates and will add some rubber padding on the inside of to protect the paint.

I like my dealership (Mullen Motors, Southold) and the folks in it very much, so I have no problem with them putting their dealership name on my car. They do it very sensibly, though, not gaudy.

I like my dealer pretty well too, but... I look at it as a business deal. They didn't want to pay ME to advertise their dealership. They even make me pay for some of their advertising (see the dealer invoice where they have those advertising charges) so, first thing when I got it home in the driveway, that license plate frame came off. Fortunately, no stickers... they would have been removed also, it's just a little more trouble to do it..

I was less than thrilled with my dealership.

I picked up a couple of stick on letters and 'cleverly' changed the dealer name from Capital to Crapital but my girl exercised her veto and I ran a blow dryer over it and the whole thing came off quick as you please.

I'm not sure if the cold weather helped with providing a contrast for the sticker to metal bond but the removal was a piece of cake. :smiley_thumbs_up:

haha, classy very classy i like that ha, to bad she messed up your fun...

I took mine off too. I also flipped the license plate frame over and turned it upside down which actually made it a better plate holder. I probably paid too much for the car anyway.
I could not believe how easy it came off with a blow dryer. Remaining residue wiped right off with Goo-Gone.

As much as I like my dealer, I still did not want the vinyl decal on the tailgate. I was able to take it off with my fingernail in under 5 minutes.

Remember the old days when it was a chrome badge with rivets or screws? Then 2 years later is would start to rust around the rivet holes and pretty soon it was body shop time.

Yes, mine had it on as well even though I said I didn't want it put on before they delivered it. As I was inspecting it the saleslady seen it and took it right off. It came off very easily, being it was freshly put on.

I loved how not only did I receive the plate frames and the sticker on the back window which was thicker than the people's heads who put it on there, but when I went to get a simple squeak fixed and an oil top-up, the other dealer put the same friggin' sticker back on but on the left side of the window!! I am requesting NO stickers next time!

I remember when I used to sell cars a little while back - the first thing we did when any cars came in was to cover it with stickers and plate frames so we could get our name out there. Oh, and with the utes I was made to climb onto the tray and place it right in the centre of the rear window so people couldn't be bothered taking it off.
