Hi!!

I was wondering if anyone else may have this problem with their '05 Liberty...

This is the wife's BABY, so I have to get her fixed....The driver seat is overheating to the point it is starting to smell burnt. I took it into the dealer and they said the switch is bad, but on backorder, so I switched the pass for the drivers. That worked for about a month, so now the seat back warmer is over heating!! She has had MAJOR back surgery and these seats are heaven for her.....

Also. this just cropped up... the rear window it starting to "pop" open on its own!! :icon_rolleyes:

We have 88K on this vehicle and it has been perfect till now....any help or ideas would be GREAT!!!

Thanks!
Glenn

Well I have heard of this before, not on liberties, but keep in mind the technology is all very similar. When I worked at a dealership, a couple came into the service lobby to talk to the manager. They were actually very upset. The woman complained that the seat had gotten so hot it had actually burned her! Now the obvious question here is, why would you let that happen....But beyond that I have heard of this on other occasions as well. I suppose just turn it to low, or off. But it would be interesting to take the seat apart and see what the heating elements have done to the materials inside. I imagine they might be burned as well. I am guessing this is leather seating in your wife's Liberty, but I wonder in the seat's inner material is the same. I want to get the heated seat kit from mopar, but I have this same concern about possibly burning and deteriorating the seat materials.

My advice is do a general google search for heated seats burning occupants.
