Hey guys im new. I just bought a 2010 model. I lived in texas where it never snowed or iced over. I had a dodge challenger 09. I moved to washington and well the car did nothing on ice so i traded it in for a jeep patriot. i don't know to much about the pat. I got the sport one with 4x4. I keep reading the fd1 and fd11 what is that all about? well i am hoping to learn a lot about my new pat here so i am here to say hi guys.

Welcome. The Pat is one snow/ice going Jeep. :smiley_thumbs_up: The FDI and FDII are the transmissions in the Patriot. The FDI has the auto-stick and the FDII has the low gear option and no auto-stick.

The FDII has the "trail rated" badge on the left side of the Patriot as well as the tow hooks, skid plates and 17 inch rims, etc...

The FDI can have 16 or 17 inch rims, but will not have the "trail rated" badge, tow hooks or skid plates.

Either is well suited for snow/ice as well as off-road. The FDII is better suited for off-road.

I know you will love your Pat. They are a great vehicle. Plus, there are a lot of smart guys/gals that will be happy to help at any time. :D

Have a Great New Years!

Welcome aboard. Didn't know that 2010 models got body-colored door handles. They look sharp, and I dig the white color too. Hope you enjoy your Pat as much as most of us here do :Racing:

white looks good on the patriot.

you can add all the stuff the FDII has for less than $2000 (except for the transmission)

and i think the FDII package is well over $2000 (at least here in Massachusetts)
This is NOT accurate... The FDII package includes a number of options that would push the price well over $2k even before swapping the transmission to get the low crawl, hill decent, etc etc. You can add hooks ($300), plates ($500) and an oil cooler ($??) for about $1500 if you do the hooks and plates yourself. But then you're still missing the added body and mechanical sealing for deeper water fording, stiffer/taller springs, heavier duty suspension, and some other goodies I'm forgetting. And, again, you don't have the low crawl which is typically low gear on all other 4x4 Jeeps.

The benefits of getting FDII upgrades from the factory have been discussed in depth on this forum and it is generally agreed to that getting FDII from the factory is cheaper and easier than adding what you can aftermarket. The $2k is a value.

Are you mister know it all with trail damage and a cb radio listed as modifications when you add some stuff then start talking you know something talks cheap mister no it all with no_ repeat_ no modifications anyway got me a 08 jeep patriot 4x4 and got rid of the one i smashed i have been researching modifications and you have none mister Dawson
There should be a law when it comes to typing while intoxicated. Do you pause while you speak or do you just ramble on with no indication as to when you end your sentence and begin a new one? Have you ever heard of punctuation marks; USE THEM!

I don't need modifications, I have an FDII! I've been around this forum since May 2007, I've actively participated in a number of threads dealing with these modifications, and I've personally met people with and seen some of these modifications (hook, plate, lift install). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to price together the mods that would turn an FDI into an FDII.

When you've been around for a few years you'll see these topics come up often and you'll learn who knows what they're talking about.
