I was wondering for the people that had their vehicles delivered. Did the dealership, that you pick it up from, slap a big dealership sticker or placard on the paint. There is nothing more disgusting then to see your brand new car with "Tampa Bay Jeep" or something like that on there, when you arrive to pick it up. I think I'm gonna talk to the guy here and let him know I don't want anything like that on my car. However, I haven't lived in the U.S. for eleven years, do they even do this anymore? Or, do they just put the license plate frame on it.

Thanks

my jeep came with two license plate frames and a 3"x5" rubber badge advertising the dealers name. Before I even showed anyone my new purchase I was out there pealing them off. My dealer only put them on while "detailing" the car when I was signing all the paperwork.

They'll slap their name all over everything they can.

Mine actually painted their name(or it could be on with 'pinstrip' material) in the bottom left of my hatch, but it's in white stenciled letters and small so it's not real gross. I am going to get it off when I get a chance.

They also drilled 2 big holes in the front of the bumper to hang the dealer name plate.

If your state doesn't require front tags, you may be able to cut them off at the pass and tell them to not put anything on it.

My Patriot was from another dealer and "they" had put a plaque on the hatch. Well, my dealership didn't want me to advertise for another dealer so they removed it. Unfortunately they gouged the paint in the process. The only solution is for them to repaint the entire hatch or me live with it. I didn't discover this until I had gotten it home and washed it a couple of days later. I've seen the work their paint man does so I guess I have to live with it.

I told them when I ordered it that I didn't want anything on it!! They put it in the notes! So when I picked it up it had plate frames on it and that was it!! I still haven't took them off but am going to!!

Before I sign any paperwork, I get written into the paperwork as part of the agreement that there will be no labels/stickers/decals/plates/emblems added advertising the dealership without them agreeing to pay my $100/monthly advertising fee. I will not accept a vehicle with any damage - even that from the removal of the advertisements.

They look at me weird when I say I want that in the paperwork... some begin to refuse having that written in the contract but when I get up to leave (walking away from the deal) they have changed their minds. I explain they don't put it on and they won't have to pay me. I am serious about it. It is advertising and I will be compensated if they want me to promote their business just like they would if they put a billboard up or an ad in the paper. An ad is an ad.

I have done this three times now. Once they had to make a mad call out to make sure the guy didn't stick on the decal already.

I'm hoping this works for me, as I'm ordering it in the UK for stateside delivery. I just hope that if I do get it in writing, It won't get lost between here and the states. I totally agree with you about the advertisement aspect of it. It's a total rip off.

I'll be notifying my salesman the next time he calls me to update me on my Jeep's delivery status. It sounds like a lot better idea to stop it from happening entirely rather than hope they can get it off without any damage.

Turned out to be pin stripe material... I got most off with a hair dryer before it started pouring rain. Now it just says 'Myrtle' :p

Cheers,

I told them not put any on my new Jeep. I let them put one plate frame on the rear though. Don't ask, specificaly tell them not to. The had no issue with this.

My dealership put a sticker on the liftgate and a frame around the rear license plate. They were both taken off as soon as I got home from the dealership, I don't believe in advertising for them for free. :D

I am an attorney.

Put it in the sales contract that "Purchaser will not accpet delivery of the vehicle if Dealer has placed any advertising of any kind on the vehicle." Just write in over your signature.

If it is not in writing before the sale, you are at the dealer's mercy not to put holes in your vehicle.

Dealers don't do the placards/emblems/stickers in CA. I don't know why, but you just about never see a car with the damned dealer stickers unless it's from out of state. The only exception that I know of is BMW of San Francisco, and who knows what's up with them...

This will be the first and only time I say this, but "Everybody needs to do what California does". Write that down, 'cause I'll never say it again....LOL

Dealer had the frames on mine when I got there to pick it up. I cought up with them just in time as they were putting on my new plates. Since they had to remove the frames, I told them to leave them off.
