My first Jeep (Patriot Limited) arrives this week and I must say I'm pretty excited. Never owned any kind of 4wd or SUV before, just cars, mostly fast(ish) and japanese (so nothing EVER went wrong).
However the little Patriot I test drove had character in abundance, is unbelieveable good value here in New Zealand (15k cheaper than CRV or RAV4), and seemingly just the perfect ride for our fun police that populate our roads.
Black on black it is and while I've toyed with the idea of chrome grills, chrome mirrors and other bling, I think I'll wait for a while. Don't want to be mistaken for a disco ball reject from the 80's (note to self....never, ever wear your old bellbottoms in this vehicle).

Black??? Ye har !! Another member of the Darkside Club---Welcome brother. Oh Chrome?? Well you had better count me in as a 64 yr old Disco reject ( Yes I have had my moments---After a few beers I do a very good Mick Jagger)

Outstanding purchase my friend! It's no Land Rover...it's a damn Jeep and menly men drive Jeeps! I use to say hope you enjoy your ride...but that is just redundant isn't it? It is after all a Jeep!!!!!!

Gee, bellbottoms, hmmm, I think that was before disco when those started. I lost a good pair of wool checked bell bottoms when fighting a fire as a volunteer, must have been 73 or 74. Later in the early 80's I was a bartender at a big disco club. Was never a fan of the music, prefer rock, but it was fun to dance to.

All Patriots sold here in New Zealand are the 2.4 petrol with CVT. The Diesel was discontinued last year (I think).
and please don't think I'm anti-chrome.......I just need to readjust my preconceptions. They do tend to take on a Hummer look when fitted with a chrome grill, and here, old Hummers are used as apartment blocks where 30 or 40 families can live.
