FYI, springs of the FDII are not just stiffer but also 3/4" longer than the FDI.

boing BOING

Looks like the size of the coil material is slightly bigger 5/8" and 11/16", or similar. Which would account for stiffer.

Thanks for the photo. That explains a lot.

It`s done in the The great FDII Spring debate thread. FDII springs are longer, wider and stiffer than the others. It`s a direct 3/4" lift after measurement and a noticeable "stiffier" ride vs the stock springs.

Armed and Dangerous?!

Yes it's true that most FD2 owners are armed and dangerous.
Not me, I'm Dang'd and Armorous!

I would really like to lift mine, but will probably do something to my Liberty before I tear into the Patriot. Got the FDII with the CVT because my Wife will drive on occasion, but it's kinda 'my' vehicle - she has a Chevy HHR. I would have prefered a stick - if they made it.

I am thinking sliders would be a better investment and could be done first.

I'd like to know if there are any shops in MI (SE or other) that would work on Patriot's? The place in Roseville sort of sneered at me a bit when I mentioned my Patriot but then talked to me a little when I said I had a Liberty. Their prices seemed pretty high for doing work, like around $350 or $400 for the labor on a lift for a Liberty.

BTW, I really like the ride on my FDII and think it looks a little better than the other Pat's running around here that look like station wagons, but I have yet to get 'er into the woods!

EXTRA LIFT ....?

I bought my mom a 08 patriot last year, and am currently in the middle of lifting it with the RRO lift kit. Having the work done at 4wheel parts. The aftermarket rims that I bought for it are Dick Cepeks and have 4.5 inches backspacing. Unfortunately even with looking @ shaving out parts of the plastic wheel well there was major rubbage. So the oversized BGF all terrains are are currently barely mounted on the stock rims. hahaha looks pretty funny. I'm sure once the lift is in it'll be tight. My question is this, has anyone on this site attempted to lift a 08 patriot more than the 2.25" that the RRO kit provides ? Money and warranties are not an issue. If so, did you upgrade your differential, and to what size ? I have heard of a custom lift kit being built by chrysler and was wondering if anybody knew info about it ? I have replaced all 4 front lights with 4000 K extreme white bulbs from piaa, and was wondering if anybody has found a company that makes the blue bulbs for the patriots configuration ? Thanx fo yo time

TIREZZZ

Tire size is BFG at 235/85R/16. There were no companies who made an all terrain tire for 17" rim sizes I was surprised to find out. Rim size is 16x8. Got a UPS e-mail last night, RRO kit should be down in Seatown on tuesday. Guess I'll see next week if it all fits together. The 16x10 rims woudn't probably fit on this vehicle even with the RRO kit and only 4" of backspacing ?
One last question to anybody out there, any experience with aftermarket airfilters on the Patriot ? K&N, masterflow, etc...HECKLER, Watched your swamp thing vid dude, you got more balls than me, I woudn't have gone into that without my big truck. lol I'll Post some pics next week when this patriot experiment hopefully works. Peace

BFG and Yokohama also have 17" all terrain rubber.

I just got everything re-torqued as the shop suggested after 10 days. I asked them about the wobble (accelerating from a stop or accelerating around a corner).

And they test drove it and called it "launch shudder" and asked if was an AWD vehicle which I said yes to, in these circumstances. I guess I'm supposed to Google "launch shudder". And he said that the rear bushings were very loose also, and that he could easily move them around by hand.

But something seems to have gotten somewhat tightened (less wobble) due to what they did and it wasn't bad before, I guess.

I think the positive points outweigh any negative points - by that I mean that I wouldn't prefer my Patriot in the previous condition.

remember "jp" just stands for Jeep Patriot. The other letters are from my first, middle and last name and the first name is Anthony.

Everything is fine and great, I feel, the way it stands now - but I'll keep an eye on everything.
