2008 Jeep Patriot 4x2 Airbags Deployed Unexpectedly: What Could Be Wrong?

Hi - I have a 2008 Patriot 4x2 - loved it until yesterday - now I am not so sure - the reason - the airbags (both side ones) deployed during a drive of not more than a few yards after leaving curbside!!!

The front ones did not - there was a loud BANG - like a balloon went off - I can't seem to get the dealer to figure out what is wrong

Anyone else with this one (yet?) - hopefully not - it was pretty scary

Lucky my 5 year old was not in his car seat in back

WOW, that's a new one, from what I know! That is weird. If you haven't had it too long, ask for a replacement. That just shouldn't happen.

side airbag deployment without any crash

yes - the jeep is in the shop and sealed - they are inpecting it - can't seem to get a straight answer (yet) - but there is no collision damage - so we will see
