my 2013 jeep patriot is a basic package with no power anything (no power windows, seats and mirrors). would i still be able to use a keyless entry universal key? if not, how much is it to install the keyless entry system?

There's aftermarket keyless entry systems, but I've never had a problem walking up to my own vehicle and using the key to unlock it. In fact, I kinda enjoy the fact that my Patriot is as basic as yours, and almost never use the remote to my Impala for anything. And when I do use it, not long after it gets in my pocket something hits a button just because of me moving a certain way. Shift my weight and suddenly my car goes nuts because something in my pocket hit the panic button. I've got half a mind to destroy the little bugger, believe it or not.

You can buy kits o eBay for all four doors.

Keyless entry is the best thing since sliced bread. I dont have it on my Patriot but Im 100% spoiled rotten by it in my Miata. The beauty of Keyless entry isnt that it unlocks the car as you approach, its the convenience of not having to stick it in the ignition as well. Push button start. I mean if you need the key in hand to start the car then whats the point of having the car just unlock? Ive had my Miata for 3.5 years, keyfob is kept in a fanny pack. The only time Iver ever seen the thing is when Ive brought the car to the dealer for normal service, other wise Ive never touched it. If all it did was unlock the car I wouldnt even want it, id see it as just one more thing to go wrong with no benefit.
