Ok so has any one tryed this tires yet. Canadian tire sells them. They look nice but look is one thing. Can't find much information on them ....red flag.
I could get them at a good price though. Cooper Discoverer SLT

Could just be a typo and they're the Discoverer LT. You may want to call around and ask for Mastercraft tires, made by Cooper but they're usually a little cheaper.

I've owned 3 sets of Mastercraft's now and had great wear on all of them.

EDIT: Just looked at Canadian Tire's website and the "SLT" they're showing is the appears to be the Discoverer H/T with a slight tread block change and without the warranty from Cooper.

Yes I did the same last night tried to compare them to a tire on the cooper site. I thought they may be the H/T also but was not sure.I would have the warranty from Canadian Tire so not a big deal. Intersting????

The new Discoverer S/T combines Cooper's proven tread
design with the latest technical advancements Cooper Tire Company
Press Release / News

Way back when, I ran a set of Cooper Discoverers on my Series 60 Land Cruiser. They were a good tyre - no problems in most terrains - but the salient point in the memory is that they lasted forever. They were Cooper Discoverer LT's, but the range has expanded radically since those days.

Now you've the choice of Discoverer A/T (an all-terrain), the H/T (predominantly an on-road 4WD tyre), the STT (biased towards dirt and mud), to name but a few. The 'newie' is the Cooper Discoverer S/T (Sure Trac); a rather radical tyre.

First, here's a little information on the Cooper company. Established in 1914, Cooper took its name from Ira Cooper, an entrepreneurial gent with a nationwide chain of auto-part stores, who took over the company in the early '20s. The first involvement with off-road tyres came in WWII, when Cooper supplied the right rubber to the US military.

In 1997, the company bought British firm Avon tyres, giving it a sales gateway to Europe via Avon's existing distributor network.

The 8th largest tyre manufacturer in the world (in contrast to the way many of us think of Cooper as a 'boutique' manufacturer), the company has factories from northern Ohio to way south of the Mason-Dixon Line. It also turned over US$3.6 billion last year, and is still a US company - only one of two. Of the original 134 American-owned tyre manufacturers, Firestone is owned by Japan's Bridgestone, BFG has been taken over by France's Michelin, Armstrong is a subsidiary of Italy's Pirelli, and the General marches to the beat of Germany's Continental. For Statesiders, the list is patriotically depressing. Only Goodyear joins Cooper on the survivors' podium.

Also significant is that Cooper has not pursued the OE market, preferring to remain purely an aftermarket tyre manufacturer, now sold throughout the world.

Well I got the coppers today, went with a 215 70 16. tred looks deep. and better then the factorys. Drive was like.....aaahh smooth, with stearing responce. road felt soft. nice ride, thats the best way I can say it. Mind you they are new? The tires I got have the M+S on them, did not see that on the web page. The only thing I am not happy with was the CT web showed a tire with letters painted white, mine aren't. Damn now wondering if there is a way I can paint them.
All in all happy so far.

Update on the cooper, Have had lots of rain here so I tried to hydroplane. Not a chance, realy, I hit some good water but the cooper didn't know it. also pined the gas on wet road and no slipping. So far great. ride is still great. I topped the air up to 44, but I think I will bring it down to what the CT had it set at 35 and see how that feels.
Any ways like I said so far so good.:smiley_thumbs_up:

Full House, Please explain.

Anton, do you ever use these tires off-roading? Or at the very least going down dirt roads? I'm looking for a new set, but better than the factory, obviously, and ones that will take light off-roading. I'd really just like to be able to cruise on dirt roads out in the country or the mtns w/o getting a flat!!

Hi cowgirlinla22
Well I live on a dirt road, and drive them some times. but mostly Highway, and little city.We do use the jeep for trips but, I think I would be safe to say I wouldn't use the tire for off roading. but again cruise on dirt roads out in the country or the mtns, would be ok. Hope this helps,
P.S. These are sold in Canada at a Canadian Tire Store

I know this post is a bit old. But was it the s/t you put on? I run. Cooper s/t on my silverado and I can't find a better tire on or off road. They are incredible in the snow.. how often did you have to rotate yours? I have to rotate every 10k miles or the start cupping.
