Hey All,

I'm renting a Patriot in a couple of weeks for a road trip. We're going to be doing some camping and I'm wondering about sleeping in the back of the Patriot.

Can anyone tell me if the rear seats lie flat and flush with the cargo area behind the seats enough that I could throw down some camping pads or an inflatable mattress? Conversely is it easy to remove the rear seats?

Has anyone done either and then slept in their vehicle?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Matt

I'm 6' and have slept in mine twice. It did need some pillows positioned just so on top of the front seat wehn flat to level out the surface.

"remove rear seat"? Huh?

camping

my bro and his lady took mine on a 3600 mile round trip. they put a twin air bed in the back and were go for 7 days. when they got back they said it is the best trip auto to have they loved it and said it was great to sleep in.

I've camped in my Patriot several many times. Each time, I simply recline my driver seat all the way back, tilt the wheel all the way up and sleep right there in the driver seat! I even installed window blinds to keep people from looking in while I sleep.

A thin fleece sleeping bag helps make staying warm possible, but I have been known to just put a heavy coat on. HARDCORE. They ask why in the hell I'd sleep that way and I'd joke and say that if a bear or a vandal tries to attack, I'd just wake up, trun the key and punch it. Sign, I'm serious though. It's also nice not to have to move any gear around.

My bf (6'4") and I (5'4") both slept in the back of our patriot, with almost no luggage.. for a night once -- he was a little squished, but fit better than he thought he would - just push the driver seat all the way forward, and stacked foam/pillows on the floor for his feet.. and voila.. fold flat front seats would've helped a lot tho.
