bought my patriot 2wd black 2.0 ltr sport e package a week ago, stickered for about 21000, got my fathers employee discount, 4500 cash for clunkers, 5000 from chrysler and 175 scrap for my 88 merc grand marquis. ended up paying about a steak dinner under $10,000.

My dealer gave me $51 scrap value, kept $50 for them, and gave me $1. Oh well, I didn't expect to get anything in the first place.
what did you trade in? They told me the value would be $175 (they keep $50) for my 2002 4400 lb mercury mountaineer. I would like to know where they are getting these figures from. They also will not give it to me until they scrap the car.

C4C is generating new jobs...repomen

All this discussion of the cash for clunkers welfare program is interesting. Hopefully all those buying the cars can handle their payments. Of course that will not be the case so joint the training program for the new hot job...repoman.

FDII Trail Rated Package

Hi,
My Patriot has the 26E package with the FDII Trail rated option. The sticker started higher than the other non-trail rated models(about $19K instead of $17K?), it has 4 wheel disc brakes and better springs, to that $1320 was added for the FDII option to get the 4Low gear(CV, fog lights, 17 inch wheels, tow hooks, Heavy Duty Alternator/oil cooler and skid plates - also lower mileage rating of 20/22.

The sticker was $24,215 before tax/title so here in MI it would add about $1500 with 6% tax. I got the employee family price, so they started with $22,600 and added tax/title, then subtracted $4500 C4C and $3500 cash back plus $1500 bonus cash. (I almost got another $1000 for owner loyalty, it was posted on the Jeep.com site for a few hours but it was pulled!) There was a credit of $100 for my clunker in there somewhere. I walked out for $14,500 total, a savings of $11,200!!

Listed below is some sticker info about the FDII opiton

Freedom Drive II Off-Road Group $ 1,320

Why is there an assumption that those who take advantage of the program won't be able to make their payments? I see it as an incentive to get rid of something that's not economical to drive in exchange for something better. How is it different from any other factory incentive other than the government (taxpayers) are providing it? I'm confused?

I'm with you no one is repo-ing mine. it was an all cash deal. There are some on this board that think mostly poor people or others down on their luck will take advantage of this and then not be able to afford it. I believe the opposite based on the types of people I saw buying Patriots in the dealers near my home.

Also, if I needed to sell my week old Patriot tomorrow, I would get more cash than what I actually paid (a lot more.) Since the trade in I gave up was worth less than $2K and got $5K from Chrysler/dealer.

91 Cherokee I6 4x4. Was the 'Laredo' model and was actually quite well optioned - power locks, power windows, alloy wheels, cruise control, all which my Patriot didn't come with.

Paid cash here as well. (Well cashier's check, not cash exactly).

Thanks, unless I missed something I'm guessing anyone who finances a car using the CARS program still has to meet the lenders requirements. Or did the clunker program include a provision allowing anyone who trades in a clunker guaranteed financing?

It was reported on the national news a few days ago that the average credit rating of buyers under the C4C program is HIGHER than the historical average of car buyers. I believe that says that C4C buyers are not credit risks, it says instead that they are astute purchasers. The same report also stated that the number of people paying cash vs finanancing was much higher as well. These are people who, for the most part, would have purchased a car already if the economy were "normal", but were holding back because of fear of the economy. Really, a "win-win". Well, that quashes that ill-informed paradigm...

HA! We got $50 scrap value minus a $50 administrative fee for the crap they have to pour in the engine to disable it for a net gain of $0. They said that's how they do it, who was I to know different?????

Traded in a high-mileage (over 200K) 1999 Silverado 4x4 that still ran great so there were plenty of high$ goodies for a junkyard to strip off of it.

Strange my no trade done last December cost about the same as I have seen posted

I have been reading the list of deals on this thread and I am a little surprised that the deal on mine was about the same net as I have seen $13K. Only unique thing is mine was a cash deal but 4X4 with the package that includes cruise and door locks. All without any government welfare, or is that theft?

wow...I am so going back to the dealer today!

Over a week ago, I turned in my 2000 Cherokee for a Patriot with the C4C...they gave me the $4500 gov and jeep gave me the $3500...however they told me they could not go down one more dollar...not only that - they tried scamming me more than once, so I was already weary....AND they did not give me the scrap metal value...I just realized that is the form that they FORGED my bf's signature on, which we also had a bout with them and am writing a letter to headquarters. The joy, I never had such a hard time buying my last Jeep. This has been such a mission...a week and a half later, I still dont have my extra key (they "lost" it), i didnt get my all season mats (waiting on those), didnt get my full tank of gas, more like 1/8...and the tire pressure sensor has been on, which they claim would go off...Grrr! I am going to claim my little bit of scrap value TODAY along witih all the other things they owe me!

Alright...sorry guys, just a bit agitated and how un-smooth my purchase went.

I hear you. While I loved the deal I got - sticker was around $19000, less C4C of $3500 (1991 S-10 Blazer), an extra $1000 for employee pricing, $3500 match from Chrysler, and another $500 which might not have been something I was entitled to but they offered, so I got the 2009 Patriot for just over $10400 but will have to go back to the dealer (150 miles away) to get the cruise control put in - I was not happy with the financial staff and how screwed up the closing was as it took 4 HOURS!

Having said that, I have my Patriot and love it and now just need to watch these forums for deals on all the add-ons and upgrades I want to invest in!

PS There was never any mention of scrap value but I will revisit that soon a sI simply wanted the get the vehicle and go home!

I asked about the scrap value when I sent off my explorer (2002 w/173k, bad valve, slipping tranny, bald tires, and broken windshield. Paid $5100 in 2004 at auction) and they told me the local salvage yard is who sets the price - the admin fee, which the gov is letting dealers charge up to $75.
