Hello,

I am going to the dealer this week to order an 08 patriot, but I don't know the MSRP for it. Is it more than the 07, because it comes standard with A/C?

I will be getting a 4x2, sport.

Thanks,
Amy

I can't speak for the sport, but I was just at the dealer tonight and priced out a pretty much loaded 08 and it came to 27,080, which come in about $1000 more than what I've been looking at for the past few months.

They are still showing the prices for 2007, but I think the 2008 prices should be in the same range. I know I'll have to order the 08. I was hoping to be able to order it in July, but it now looks like I may have to wait until September to order. I see it can take up to 90 days for delivery, which would mean delivery in December. This is going to be my possibly last car purchase because I will be 70 in December, and this will be my birthday present. I sure am hoping things work out so I can order it! My son-in-law is hoping too, because he'll get my Subaru Outback!:D

Good luck with your purchase. Which Patriot are you going to get? Oh! and Happy future Birthday!!

Not much change in net

My dealer said the net change would be about $500. They changed around some of the option packages which could effect the price up a little. CRX seems to work in increments like that from their experience. There are usually 2 hikes a year of about $500 on the base. The first comes at the model year change and the second comes at mid year. I believe them because my family has been doing business with them for 25 years now. They are pretty accurate on stuff like that. the only dealer I know that will show me dealer invoice and ACTUAL cost. Gotta love the small town dealers.

More crappy news

Well, after 5 weeks of waiting so far I received news from CRX that my order got rejected and had to be resubmitted because the order was based on 07 options and they have changed for 08.

1. Vinyl seats are no longer available on the 08's
2. Fog Lamps are now part of a premium tire and handling group (significantly more expensive as well because of the new grouping)
3. Full sized spare is now part of the Towing group. (what that has to do with it I don't know because I ordered the Towing group.

The most maddening part of this is they just didn't flag my order for updates, they rejected it from the system which means I now go back to the end of the line and estimated delivery is now mid October.

I called CRX customer service and read them the riot act and they are checking what they can do to at least restore my position in the queue. Depending on the result, I might just cancel my order. This is ridiculous. My dealer seems to think CRX may be doing this on purpose to make their backlog and inventory numbers look better.

So, if your Patriot order hasn't already been marked for production before the July 13th, you may want to contact your dealer and have them check on it. You too could end up at the end of the line.

Okay so I called the dealer. I had just called yesterday! I talked to the guy who's selling me mine. He said he hadn't heard anything at this point of that happening, he said it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. He said when the sales manager gets back they'll check mine out.

I hope this doesn't happen to me. I ordered min for mid Feb though when I return from overseas, so I guess it won't matter. My dealer did point out some options that changed though, so I can't see why your dealer didn't have the same info. However, I just ordered mine last week, so more info was probably available.

MrSensible:

If CRX is bouncing its customers to make the numbers look better - well, I would write CRX and tell them I am here to help. Let me cancel my order. There, does thata feel better now CRX? This will really help your numbers. In fact, if you can cheese-off enough customers, well, there just may be no backlog whatsoever. Perfect.

/rant off

Sounds to me like maybe your dealer goofed somewhere. Manufacturers like DCX want order backlogs, not inventory numbers. Part of what put Chrysler in the fix they are in was a glut of inventory, that had no orders to fill. The Patriot has exactly the opposite situation, plenty of orders, and not much inventory. They still have some issues in the body shop that are holding back full production. When I was in Belvidere week before last, the line was shutting down at 1:30pm on the day shift due to those troubles.

That's interesting to know.......... was this your first visit or have you been there on several occassions................ just curious.........
This was my third trip this model year. Looks like I'll probably be back there again I'm guessing by early August. My company does a lot of work for DCX, I've been to St.Louis (south - Caravans) and Toledo (north- Libertys and Nitros) this week alone... And, just to be more clear, the body shop issues are not with the vehicles. The problems have to do with build mix throughput problems. The bodies they build are fine.
