Hi! Thinking of pulling the trigger to order a new Patriot. My '08 is getting long in the tooth, and I think at 120K miles, it's time!

So, for those of you who have this deluxe model--what have been your concerns (or problems...)? Were there options you wish you would have gotten?

Inquiring minds need to know.....THNX!!

I was surprised that a package with leather/sunroof didn't have a backup camera/bluetooth or the dash with all the information, all I have is outside temp/odo/tripodo. Not even fuel milage readout.

I love my High Altitude even though they didn't offer the backup camera on the 2015 (don't think they did). I think most of my equipment is in my signature. I bought mine from a lot and not ordered so I got what I wanted most--heated leather seats (senior citizen here and turn it on for my back about every time I am in it) Uconnet Voice Command with Bluetooth, Sirus Satellite Radio , and Remote start. (It has the sunroof which I very seldom ever use.) I have the Freedom one 4 by 4 since that is all you can get with the 6 speed automatic transmission. My wife took a drive in a Renegade and I was the passenger and she didn't like it and I didn't either even though you can get a few more modern electronics with it. I am also missing the NAV which I very seldom use in my other vehicle that has it.

We are over 30,000 miles on our 2015 High Altitude. It's the wife's daily driver, and our trip machine. It also goes down into our hunting / cabin off-road land almost daily as we have a small fishpond and we feed.

It's been absolutely bullet proof, never spins a tire, the sun-roof has never leaked a single drop and she uses the darned thing. I don't even like the roof opened, feels like something is gonna crawl in, or a wasp......

This is the end of the boxey looking basic SUV and I love the look.

We're making several trips to Western Arkansas soon and they will be 2 lane roads with the occasional adventure thrown in.

I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I see there is an electronics package that does include the back up camera--however is pricy, for what you get. When I order this next week, I will go with the basic radio--don't need 6 cd changer, and from what I hear, the nav on this vehicle is lacking and too expensive, so will stay with a (top of the...) dash mount for my Garmin. On our trips, being hard of hearing seniors, we listen to mystery novels that we download onto a MP3 player, and that plugs into the aux port, works great, except--wouldn't it be nice if there was an interface that would pause the player when you turn off the car? Come back after lunch and find your story is an hour ahead of you...!

Some things to think about. I purchased my 2016 Patriot in February. Some options you might want to consider: EVIS..electronic vehicle information center in the rpm instrument cluster: tires pressure individually monitored: projected gas mileage and distance left in tank etc. Security and Convince Package. Security alarm that is armed-disarmed with ignition key (after market alarms will require an additional / bulky control activator). Uconnect radio without navigation comes with backup camera and a 1 year Sirius radio. Automatic dimming rear view mirror. Most importantly...do not accept Fstone Affin... Touring Tires T95...They are loud on rough pavement and roads at highway speeds!

A suggestion I left out with my prior post: With the U connect radio you get Blue Tooth Hands free cell phone connect-ability.

i wish i would have gotten the information panel display. i hate looking at that window and having nothing showing. plus i miss the gas range and stuff like that, even tpms. idk if i can order it or just have to deal with it, does anyone know?

The evic is a must, in my opinion. Backup camera--great idea, but not worth the kilo-buck extra, in my humble opinion.

Couldn't find an option to provide a full size spare on the build list.

Have all those features on my Limited, 'cept for 4x4, and sun roof, which I believe will come in handy with an animal inside to vent hot air. Today, I keep the rear windows down about 1-1/2 inches, and have a fan to move the air around--but then I was living in the desert of Central CA, now the pacific NW, probably not an issue.

Thanks for all the comments--I'm going to the dealer this week to order the HA model.

Sounds great Jack......It is always a beautiful uplifting experience when a person gets to buy a brand new vehicle......My last 7 vehicles have all been brand new and I have not regretted buying one.

Let us know how you like your new HA Pat after you get some miles on it!

Thanks! If it works just 1/2 as well as my '08 (which has never seen the inside of a Jeep shop--except for CVC service--I will be a happy camper. My '08 runs and performs just great--it's the fact of using it to haul building materials for DIY projects that have scratched and broken some of the plastic parts, lots of scratches on the outside (local folks call this "Sierra-Nevada pin stripping) and having a 50# dog riding in the front pax seat didn't help--altho, here's a tip: If your animal is to ride on the seats--have their nails GROUND/DREMELED rather than clipped!

Today's the day to order!

I haven't read every word of every post thus far, but...I'm a convert from an FCA vehicle with "all the bells and whistles" in the dash. My Renegade had the Uconnect® 8.4 NAV/RA4 (larger, nicer version of the Uconnects.) It had software issues from day one. First, it controls too much, like dashboard units on digital dashes, including tire pressure and miles per hour. This would change frequently without intervention. It also controlled the electric parking brake switch. I went through at least (3) updates to the software, and the final one caused the emergency 9-1-1- lights to come on "red" and the only way to fix was to hit the button, instituting a 9-1-1- call. When I traded in my Renegade with only 9 months and 9k miles on it, Jeep's open case with me had NO KNOWN RESOLUTION.

So, in choosing my high-altitude Patriot, I retained in the Uconnect's 230/REQ the features of bluetooth to phone including calls, text, and streaming. I retained one USB connection for playback of music which reads in a very basic manner on my Green LED Uconnect in the Patriot, and while I lost navigation and a backup camera, my phone works fine for navigation via bluetooth/Google nav, and I don't need the camera. I've also noticed better voice recognition in the Uconnect basic model. It will connect to more than one phone, and even has handy basic memo recording which I enjoy. The more BASIC dashboard is fine with me, and the comfort and drive is GREAT.

Just wanted folks shopping Uconnect to know that the Uconnect® 8.4 NAV/RA4 had SERIOUS issues when installed in the Renegade. It may or may not have issues in the Patriot, but...the ticket remained open when I traded mine in, and I never knew WHEN certain functions would work, and some wouldn't. My local dealership even had an FCA engineer come in specially to install one update as I was "betatesting" the version for them. The engineer was very helpful, but the combination of Renegade and Uconnect was half-baked at best.

Oh, and the bottom line for me was, I wanted a RADIO that worked well. The digital radio in the 8.4 had acceptable FM, okay satellite, and AWFUL AM SOUND!! If you like AM at all for talk or local stations, that radio is an insult to AM broadcasters. The current one in my Patriot, on the other hand is incredibly sensitive, pulling stations from clear across the state, and rendering my station in fairly wide AM bandwidth, probably a good 8khz or more.

So, be aware if you love radio and don't want issues....the 8.4 unit has it's issues.
I'm incredibly happy with the features of the "High Altitude" version I bought, and couldn't be happier with the Patriot overall. Reminds me more of my 1999 Cherokee Sport than any other vehicle I can find, and suits my needs quite nicely.
