Hi, I'm looking into getting a new vehicle soon. My first choice so far is a patriot, I'm starting to love them more and more. I still need to test drive one, but I kinda want a 4x4 and jeeps seem like the affordable 4x4s, plus they still have plety of room to haul stuff around. I'm wondering how Reliable they are, from all your experiences andif you recomend patriots. How many miles do you have and what problems or just regular services did you need so far. I use to hear the older jeeps weren't that reliable. Are the new ones any better. I'm looking to get maybe a 2015 or 2016. Also is there different ride heights from ground between the different classes? (Sport, sport se, latitude, etc.) What's the Maine difereence you need, or packages you need to want to go a little off roading, or to start.? Thank you for your time.
My Wife's 2010 2.4 is still going strong..at 55K miles..(except for drivers side sun visor had to replace as it flopped down while driving).and my sons 2010 2.0 at 63K only had one problem so far..the coolant overflow recovery tank cracked.. (less than $10 at Rockauto...and it came with cap & overflow hose attached!) They have been both reliable from new.

I can't answer on reliability as I trade too often, but to your question about off road driving I can just tell you that there are two choices. You can get a 4 by 4 with Freedom one with a 6 speed auto transmission which is not trail rated or one with a CVT transmission and Freedom II that is trail rated. I am sure others can give you a lot more information than I can on this subject. I do like mine as it is more secure even on a wet road and I have only taken it off road in my friends rough field where I go to do some shooting.

At 47k I've replaced the tires, spark plugs and oil changes every 5k. Besides the occasional door/brake squeak it has been a pain free 2.5 years. Great in the snow, best of the 4 Jeeps I've owned.

Had my first problem with my 2008 patriot today after a little over a year of ownership. Came home and parked and saw the tail lights would not turn off. I checked to see if any other lights would turn on and saw I have no brake lights what so ever and the car is stuck in park. Found a few posts about similar issues and can shift if I manually manipulate a lever. Safe to say I will be going to the dealer tomorrow. Overall great car, I love my patriot!

I want to add my thanks for all of the responses by those with aged Patriots! I've been considering the purchase of a Patriot to replace my current vehicle, mostly because I've wanted one for years. Good to hear from people who have had positive experiences with their Patriots, as opposed to those who have had issues with leaks, which is my primary concern with them.

Again, thanks!
