Slightly a bit off-topic, but did any of you folks who ordered (and received) your Patriot notice that it said "Especially built for....[Your Name Here]" on the window sticker? I just looked at my sticker yesterday because I needed a copy to get an insurance credit for the DRL's...I thought that was pretty cool, but then I'm easily amused.:D

KZM FINALLY!!!! So today is exactly 10 weeks since my order was placed, and I'm now in KZM. Woohooo! :pepper::banana::pepper:

And to top it all off, when I was leaving work for lunch today, I saw one in the parking lot! It was the first one I've seen in the "real world". (I've only seen them on dealer lots)

Hopefully I can pick up next weekend, which would put me at a wait of 11 weeks and 2 days...

Brutally long wait over.. its finally mine..

More focus on Jeeps at Belvidere plant

BELVIDERE — For the first time since it was launched in January 2006, the Dodge Caliber accounted for less than half of the production mix at Chrysler’s Belvidere assembly plant.

The Jeep brand has been Chrysler’s top sales performer in 2007, and the company aggressively changed the assembly line time to turn out more Jeeps in May.

The ramp-up of the Jeep Patriot is no surprise. Workers turned out 12,014 Patriots in May, nearly 40 percent more than April. The small SUV, in just its fifth month of production, was a hit with analysts, and company officials are eager to get it to dealerships worldwide as quickly as possible.

But workers also turned out 6,107 Compasses in May, a more than 15 percent increase from April. It marked the first time in seven months that the company didn’t cut Compass production.

“This is a little typical of Chrysler,” said Erich Merkle, an auto analyst for Grand Rapids, Mich.-based IRN Inc. “They’ll really ramp up production to build inventory and then have to cut back if sales don’t meet projections.

“Right now, the Patriot is going to have to show a lot more in sales to sustain that level of production.”

With so much time going to the Jeep products, workers finished just 13,378 Calibers, the lowest total for that vehicle since last November.

“Chrysler has a manageable supply of Calibers right now,” Merkle said. According to IRN statistics, Chrysler dealers have an average inventory of Calibers to last for 44 days versus 45 days for the Patriot. The days-on-hand average for the Compass is 90 days.

“I believe the Compass increase was a one-time thing. You’ll see production of the Compass continue to fall, especially as the Patriot gets established,” Merkle said. “The Compass is going to lose buyers to the Patriot as more people become familiar with it.”

Through May, Chrysler’s U.S. sales are down about 1.5 percent from 2006, although worldwide sales are up slightly thanks to a 16 percent increase in its international sales. Although Dodge remains Chrysler’s top brand, with 483,134 U.S. sales so far this year, Jeep is the only brand among Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler up year-over-year. Jeep’s U.S. sales of 202,542 through May are up 12.2 percent.

Much of that increase is because of the popularity of the new 4-door Jeep Wrangler, which is put together in Toledo, Ohio, but company officials have credited both the Patriot and Compass with bringing different kinds of buyers to Jeep showrooms.

There is also a PDF file: http://rrstar.com/assets/pdf/D177478623.PDF where a graphic shows monthly production of all 3 vehicles exceeded 31,000 units for the first time since retooling the plant in 2006.

So, for all of you waiting for your vehicles, there is hope!

BTW, mine had my name on the window sticker: I mentioned it once on the board (to KATH), and no one responded. But, I also think it is very cool!

It feels good to get it. And much more fun to drive!!!:D

Hey that was a great article... good to see that we are participating with helping an American Brand... hell its a legendary one..
And yes its great to be able to finally drive it..

It looks better in person..

I have also expierienced a rather unusual effect.. for now I will call it the Tardis effect..

People look at the Patriot from about 200 feet away and they all say "hey it look really big!" They think its kinda Commander like in overall size.
When they step up to the car from a couple of feet then they say.. hey its smaller than I thought.
Apparently this has some kind of light warping technology that it changes size for maneuverability sake. Maybe its some kind of new military technology and we are unknowingly being used as guinea pigs..

Or maybe i'm just nuts... LOL

Long Wait To Go...

We ordered our 2008 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4 on August 2, 2007.
I spoke to my dealer today and it's in "BG" Status... I guess we still have a long wait to go?
He said it should take about 6-8 weeks when we ordered but he's pretty sure it will be here in 6 weeks from the order date. Guess we'll see...

My order was placed on 9/27/07 and went to D1 today with an assigned VIN and an estimated ship date of 10/24/07. Pretty much on schedule for the estimated 6 to 8 weeks delivery time frame. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Picked it up last Saturday. Total time until it reached the dealer:

107 days.

As an IT person, I am still trying to figure out Chrysler's whole inventory system. When I develop something that as user has to complete steps to finish, it has codes posted. When the administration needs to see the progess of a student, they can easily look at the record and there it is.

With this archaic system, a person has to approve the code for the service rep to see and then someone else has to approve it for the dealer to see. I only say this because when you call the number, you get a code and then a date that it was posted. I went to the dealer and the date they have for the same code was two weeks behind what the reps have.

Also wouldn't there be progress on the darn thing as it went through the line such that as parts were pulled to be added to the vehicle you would know where exactly it is. Let be real here, you can't install the carpeting after the seats are installed. (I suppose you could, but it would defeat the purpose of an assembly line)

I am just getting frustrated with both Chrysler and the dealer since the dates don't mesh. How can I call in the morning and get a code d1 updated on 1-18 and the dealer has a code of d1 update on 1-08?

Thanks for letting blow some steam. I am only this way because had the system been correct I would have had my Jeep to play, um I mean drive in the 10 inches of snow we got last night, instead of my VW Cabrio. It handles fine, but it is no Jeep.
