Dear all,
I'm a quite happy owner of a 2014 Jeep Patriot 4x4 latitude.
I write from South Africa and I would like to install two front hooks on my Pat but in the 2014 euro low front fascia (also called "export lower front bumper cover") there are not front holes.
So I would switch from (euro?) front lower fascia to USA front lower fascia.
I have attached a couple of pictures to show you exactly what I mean.

Do you have any experience for this changing? Do you know which items (parts number) I have to order to do this change?

Thank you to all who will help me. i spent hours on internet and on this forum but seems that no one has already done this change.

Kind regards

Dear Aroundincircles,

I've studied the post from @creation and I think that the job is different. He has a model pre-2012 and he changed all the front bumper. My Pat is 2014 and I would like to change only the lower part of the front bumper (the one that is called front fascia, please see part number 7 in the picture attached) to have the two holes to mount two hooks.

My problem is that in South Africa they do not sell that item and I probably need to import from USA, but I'm not sure if i need to buy also other items.

I don't either know if the fog lights will be compatible with the new front fascia. Is there someone from USA with experience with part number that can suggest me the right parts?

I've already surf on moparDOTcom, patrswebsiteDOTcom, moparpartsoverstockDOTcom (sorry I cannot insert webaddress).

Thank you in advance

I replaced my 2014's standard fascia with a tow hook fascia I bought on ebay

Search for this on ebay, it should show you the fascias you would need. "New Bumper Cover Facial Front Lower Jeep Patriot CH1015110 68091522AA"

Dear breadtruck, thank you very much. I found it and seems to be very cheap.

Do you already know if, over that spare part how many and what kind (size) of clip I need to buy? I thi9nk that I will probably brake to old one when I will try to dismount the old fascia.
What about items 10 and 11 in the pictures attached?

I hope to buy everything to do the job in one day only (I really hope to have everything). Shipping to South Africa is expensive and take long time.

Kind regards

So just to be clear, I have a USA-spec Patriot. So I can only assume that a lot of the mounting clips that were used on my vehicle are the same as yours. :)

Im not sure what 10 and 11 are in the attached picture. 10 looks like its the chrome trim piece found on Latitude model Patriots.
I didnt order either of those parts though and my install went smoothly.

As far as the plastic retainer clips, I think you'll be fine. They are pretty durable from my experience (Ive pulled my front bumper plastics off 4 times now.) I did invest in a tool designed to pull them out a bit easier though, such as this one http://amzn.com/B0037UWC5Q You pry the locking pin up a bit with a screwdriver, then insert this tool underneath it. It evenly distributes the force on the pin which helps to pull it (and avoid breaking it.) Its paid for itself already between my tow hook install and a rear trailer hitch install.

Maybe someone else can chime-in on which clips you could buy as "just-in-case" spares.

On mine, the lower fascia is held onto the upper bumper with rivets on the sides and a interlock system in the center, as shown in this picture taken from my install (you can see 2 rivet heads and the interlock plastic tabs on the bottom.) I drilled out the rivets and installed 1/4" stainless steel bolts and stainless nylon lock-nuts to attach the new fascia to the bumper plastics. I dont recall exactly how many rivets there are, but the second picture appears to be showing 5, so at the very least, there is 10 of them total.

Installing tow hooks and swapping lower bumper fascia

My daughter has a 14 Patriot Sport 4x2 w/o the tow hooks. About 3 months ago, she smashed the bumper into a parking lot pole. I decided to replace the bumper myself instead of going through the insurance company. Also made the decision to install MOPAR tow hooks and the corresponding lower bumper cover. Went ahead and upgraded the meep meep horn with Wolo hi's and lo's while the bumper was off as well.

I used my acquaintance Tommy Wong who owns orders.propartscenter.com/ProductsLeftSearch.aspx. I see he has the lower bumper cover you are looking for at $75 USD. I'm not sure if he is willing to ship or how much shipping will be to SA.

As I recall, it was ridiculously easy to pull the bumper, just several large push pins (hidden behind the splash shield), self tapping screws and couple of fender bolts. I did not have to buy new hardware except for plastic rivets. The entire bumper assembly including grill came out as one piece. As someone said, the lower bumper cover is attached to upper by plastic rivets. You can use nut and bolts, but I decided to do the OEM route and used rivets. I used this link as my disassembly guide:

Good luck!

Dear all,
thank you very much for your contribution. Now I only need to find a website that can ship those items to South Africa and I'm ready to do the modification.

I'll send you pictures when I'll do the job. I'm thinking to use rivets, but what I need to install them?

Kind regards

Dear guys,
I've found the two hooks shipped to South Africa from Canada seller BUT to mount them I need to have the new lower fascia.
Well, the fascia cost 67$ and to ship it from USA I must pay 410$ for the express courier. Seems to me crazy!! I can't find any dealer out of USA with that item. Do you guys, that live in USA, know any cheap shipping method to post parcel to South Africa. I cannot afford to pay 410$ to ship 70$ value parcel. All the supplier have free delivery to USA and very expensive shipping to South Africa.
Do you have any other advice?
Hope you understand my frustration.

Off-hand, no. It comes in a big box and South Africa is a long distance away, so I dont think "cheap" shipping will be easy to find sadly.

I was just playing around with a few shipping websites and the quotes I was shown are worse than the one offered to you. :(

I've tried with almost all the ebay seller and USA spare p[art seller, without success. The shipping costs are 3 times the cost of the item. Nobody wants to ship with cheap post service, all of them only uses express service. I think that is impossible to have those front bumber in south africa and install front hooks. I think I cannot cut my hook, due to the position of front fog light and due to the size of bumber.
I start to think that will be impossible install the two hooks :-(

Kind regards

Im not sure if this has been brought up and I didn't read the entire thread...so if it has I apologize. Could you not have the parts department of your local jeep dealer import it for you?

@AlJeep, I have also looked. Called it a day due to costs and pain involved. You could try ask the guys at Zone Offroad to bring one in for you, with one of their regular shipments. www.zoneoffroad.co.za
Although it looks like it is simply the lower facia, I am not entirely sure that the 'guts'/deforming bits under the shell are really same due to differing crash safety regulations - it may not line up.

Why not look at getting an engineering shop to make you up something like a FrontRunner universal recovery point (I think the FR one will be too short) and then you cut a slit into the bumper facia to expose it? As for the clips, you can get from Wurth.

Dear members,
unfortunately the South African dealer doesn't want to sell me that bumper. They require me the VIN number and with that VIN number the fascia they can sell it's mine. The only option I have is try to give them a USA VIN number. Who can help me to get one of a dismissed 2011+ jeep patriot??

I would not try to have something engineered for me, I would prefer to have the original one. If I can't I'll get mine and I'll forget about the front hooks.

Unfortunately I can't install the front hooks, cutting the original bumper because they will be behind the position of fog lights. This bumper has been designed for countries according to their safety regulations and they haven't thought to give us opportunity to have front hooks. That's a mistake that Jeep has done.

Kind regards

Al

I'm going to a pick and pull junk yard in the next month. If they have a 2011+ and no one has been able to get you a vin yet I will.

The local dealer is able to supply me the bumper, but he require a VIN for a patriot with that bumper (with already cutted holes for the hooks).
I hope to find one VIN available through the forum.

Kind regards
