About 2 and a half weeks ago my dad and I were able to build boxes for under the front seats and install my sound system. The boxes exterior dimensions are 11.75" L x 11.75" W x 5.75" H. (made out of 3/4" MDF on top and sides and 1/2" MDF on bottom) giving me approx .3 cubic feet in each box. I know it isn't much, but it worked. The sound quality is pretty good for the size boxes, the subs hit hard but sustained low bass notes tend to bottom out. I know this thread is worthless without pictures, but my computer has had a virus and I am scared to upload much to it right now. As soon as I get a chance I will put them on here (hopefully by the end of this week).

Yeah man, I once hid a pink unicorn under my seats... I got pics too, but never posted ;-)

cant wait to see the pictures. do you have the subs facing the floor or facing the passangers seat
The subs are facing the seats. If you turn them up you get a massaging chair effect.

Ok, so the reason I built the boxes the way I did was A: because they fit under the seats and the subs fit in, and B: because they were easy to build and could be taken in and out easily if I need the space.

Some of you may be concerned about the seats hitting the boxes... They do touch, but hardly at all when the seats are pushed back most of the way. One of my friends who is 6'4" got in the driver seat and adjusted the seat to his comfort level and the seat just touched the boxes, so no worries there. If someone taller sits up front and needs more space it is easy to slide the boxes back.

Concerns about the boxes and being kicked/damaged from shoes...etc.
1) The boxes could prob hold my Pat. they are so sturdy. I midered the side edges and the top of the box using a special box building mider/router bit, and the bottom is rabbited in all glued and nail-gunned in. I used a bananna-clip plug port which is siliconed and screwd in, so the box does not leak at all. I also put in some poly-fill to help with the smaller box size.
2) Instead of carpet, which would hold moisture against the boxes if water from rain or people's shoes got on them causing them to swell, I used several under coats of flat tan spray paint and then a few textured paint coats. This will keep the boxes safe from water and they don't mess up very eaisly.

Concerns with the heat build up from the amp... The way it is mounted in the spare area allows air flow to go on both sides of the amp, actually keeping it just as cool as if it were in open air in the trunk. I put a strip of velcro across the back edge, just next to the back seat, so the amp wont slide or fall but can be easily moved if I need to take out the spare.

Hope this answers most questions!

I have a 5yr old set of Fosgate 8" subs and that enclosure would be perfect for them.

I was going to try and put them in with the spare, but I hate trying to make odd shaped boxes.

Are any of those pics with the seats close to max forward (Short wife).

Thanks.

No, none of the pictures are from with the seats all the way forward, but the boxes do not effect the seats sliding forward at all. My dad is 6'2", I'm 5'7", and my girlfriend is 5'2" (she is a beginner at stick so she prob has the seat very far forward to push the clutch down with a bent knee), and we can all reajust the seat for our comfort level. ... so back to the original question, your wife should have no problem with the seat location.

Yeah, the speakers show a good bit more when the seats are forward. Actually... one of the pictures, the angled top view, is from when the passenger seat is all the way forward, or atleast most of the way forward.

Okay, thanks.

Any concerns about the *rolleyes* Rear Air Ducts *rolleyes* being blocked causing the boxes/speakers to deal with added heat or have you noticed your seat getting a bit hot when set to Vents/Feet or just Feet?
Not that I have noticed so far. The boxes are several inches from the vent, so the air blows directly onto them, but can get around them pretty easily too. I am going to try and figure out some way to completely bypass the boxes, but I haven't had a chance to look into it any yet. If anyone has any ideas about that, let me know.
