I am looking for a rack for my '16 MK
How it will be used:
Kayaks
Camping gear possibly roof top tent
I understand the weight limit is 150, but..........If I removed the OEM rails and replaced with FULL AFTERMARKET rack and rails, would this increase the capacity? I would like to possibly install a 2 person rooftop tent on occasions.
Next I will need to know the best recommendations. Yakima, Thule, ??? . I am looking for FULL length or close to as possible (extensions are OK). I have never purchased a rack for installation before, just always purchased vehicle with one installed. I will need to know everything I need to purchase. Everytime I call a "specialist" I feel like they are trying to upsell me on everything. What rails, locks, strips, basket, extensions, yada yada do I need to purchase?
