Soooo. Yea Battery keeps dying for different reasons. Lately I've had to jump it every time I go to use it.

This video was taken with the jumpers on voltage sits at 14 all gauges work. After it cranks like that I have to re disengage the security system between starts.

I first got it started today it started on its own with no key in right when I hooked up the jumpers even with the alarm going off. It was doing this a few days ago as well..

Thinking first and foremost the battery is shot just wanted to make sure before I buy a new one. What group size should I get?

So my name is Chris and I have a built 91 xj as well! Have to post some picks when I get to my pc! That stupid group 51 battery goes every 2 years in AZ. I've got xj buddies that run group 34 batteries if you search a bit on the xj forums

Yea im pretty sure it'd the battery because I've killed it 10+ times since I bought it, and the po did aswell somthing with the NSS he said. Gonna clean that on Friday.

I ordered new cables because those need to go the corrosion on them is horrible and picked up a starter too since it's most likely on it's way out due to the length it had the valve cover leak.

On standby with work this weekend so I can't go anywhere.... Perfect time to do all of this.

I should every day I work on the thing the list grows more then it shrinks. I knew the eletrical work needed to be done just didn't expect it to be so sudden.

I might work on the list now slow 13 hour shift.

Also joined a club recently and they are super helpful when it comes to helping you do harder reipairs. So I should be getting some of the harder joba done on the coming months. Found a few real bad rust spots in the floor/wheel wells that gotta be fixed at some point they where pretty hidden. Was not expecting it due to the little rust on the frame rails.

Sooo have not updated on a while

Got new tires and rims also put in a new battery, cables and starter. Jeep starts up perfectly now however the battery won't charge now... What cable runs from the batteryvro the alt I wanna see if it's connected right because that may be my issue.

You can run an extra wire from alternator to the battery positive, two wires better than one. I run two wires on my Jeep Comanche high output alternator.

I added that ground to the bracket about the radiator a while ago worked well before I did all the new battery wires.

When I tested the alt I kept getting diffrent numbers it was jumping around every second between 12 and 19 and At times it said 1-.--.

Battery reads 9 atm with engine running and no jumpers but the voltage is running downward real fast.

I too think it's a wiring issue seeing I put in New ones I could of screwed up somewhere. I am just having difficulty finding where the wires run from the alt to the battery.

also I have no power to my wipers or radio..

Could this be a cause of any of it? New connector only had 1 post i have power though the top bolt as well though.
