Looks like insurance is going to do another repair job :( I think I might just end up selling it after this time and get another 97 toyota camry. I don't think we can have nice cars anymore.

man that sucks.... I sold my patriot after it was hit in a parking lot. Almost $4k in damages since they it my rear wheel and messed up the suspension. I don't think I put 100 miles on it before I sold it. I don't know if we even had it two weeks after we got it back from the shop...

If they do a good job there shouldn't be any problem...as evidenced by my previously totaled 2012. I've had zero problems and I bought it in Feb 2014 just after it was rebuilt.

So an update on this. I have been willing to sell the jeep. The body shop has offered me 6k and the insurance will give me another 6.8k too. So almost 13k to sell the jeep. I am tempted. Do you think I should sell it for this?

Story behind it:
The repairs aren't complete on it. They own 6800 dollars to finish the body damage repairs. It will take another month to do it. Should I just take the money and run? I have really been considering wrangler unlimited or xterra. Those mpgs are going to hurt though.

KBB Dealer trade in is $11,500. I would take the $ and run. How much do you owe on it?

Edit: KBB private is 13,300. which giving up $300 for not having to deal with the hassle, is 100% worth it to me (I guessed 50k miles and put in latitude, manual transmission and silver paint, my zip code, and did a value of fair which is 50% of vehicles fit into this category, which yours has been in two accidents which means a lot of people won't want to touch it)

Its paid off, I am not sure what I will get next... maybe even another PATRIOT  It really seems like a decent deal. Now I got to go through the work to make it happen

I have 5500 miles on my JK and have been averaging a little over 18 mpg which corresponds to manufacturer's numbers. I averaged 22.4 with my Patriot. So it's 4 mpg difference. Do I notice it? Not really, with 100 more horses under the hood, I'll take that difference. I did get 20 mpg in my JK driving on the highway. If money wasn't an issue, I'd get another Patriot in a heart beat to have it as my DD and have JK as my weekend warrior.

I am just excited for something new. My wife is demanding an suv so I guess we will get one of those. Might as well get something that can do it all, like off roading, towing, commuting.

Although you could buy 30 Used ZJ's for the same price...
Yes, but why must everyone complain about price. Yes I realize not everyone has tons of money to buy things, but for my wife, she won't be buying another vehicle anytime soon. We figured out our needs in a vehicle and this fits it perfectly. Will probably own it for about 10 years or so. So people say it isn't an investment, well its an investment in having a useful safe capable vehicle for our family for years to come. Yes we could have got something cheaper, but you might lose reliability and what not. My wife drives an awful lot in the winter so having a 4x4 with good gas mileage was a must.

It would be difficult to find an older vehicle that tows 4500lbs, and gets over 30mpg on a regular basis.

Each to their own though. Look at the cost of the new wranglers, they can also get up their in price as well.

You can't spend money when you are dead, now having said that I do save my money, but I save something for toys and nice vehicles so that's my hobby.

It just sounded like he didn't want to spend much more than a used Patriot price for another vehicle. You can buy a cheap jeep and save the money for later when you can afford exactly what you want or something better comes around. Buying a cheap Jeep and putting money aside for repairs and saving the rest seems like a better idea than taking out a lease or loan...but yes reliability could be a downside.

other than the xterra, anything specific you are looking at?
I am looking for a suv that has 4 wheel drive lol pretty vague actually, but this is my wife's definition of what she wants. I want something that can off road and towing would be darn nice.

I am looking at the xterra, grand cherokee with low range, wrangler unlimited, cherokee. Thats pretty much it, I wonder if I really could get another patriot though. Not sure how I feel about its off road capability verses the others. I am not too fond of moo mode.

About that reliability... that 9sp scares me. I haven't test drove one yet, but I have been hearing horror stories. The styling isn't my favorite but I think I could get over it.
