Question for those with Sirius, especially those in Northern NJ.

How is the reception on the satellite radio? When I test drove it it seemed fine, same as my current receiver. I know it drops out occasionally in dead spots, but otherwise is very good and consistent. But I read one review where they mentioned the signal seemed weak and didn't come in very well.

It's likely that this is a regional thing, as signal strength varies from region to region, but I'd just like to see what every one else's experience is.

Thanks!

i seem to have a good signal, but there are times of day when it will cut in and out. I can drive though one spot in the morning and have a great signal, but drive by again in the afternoon, and it in and out.

I've had no problems at all with mine so far. I have noticed that the sound quality seems to be a lot better in my Jeep than Sirius installed in my friends vehicles too!

White LTD 4x4 with Sirius...got the Boston Accoustics 9 Speaker System...AMAZING sound quality is all I can say....I live in Montreal...there is the very infrequent Dead-spot....but when its on...the signal isa always strong!!!....it's GREAT!!

I have noticed its not as good as the XM radio in my Ram. I am not sure of this is a Sirius thing or is it just the factory radio. I know my XM SkiFi 2 receive buffer the signal, (similar to the way CD palyers anti-skip feature works) to compensate for the short loss of signal that happens when you go under a bridge or heavey tree cover for a moment. So I wonder if the factory radio has that or not...if not that would explain the intermitten drop out I get.

I've had Sirius for about 3 years and it can be spotty in places. ESPECIALLY during the green months when there is a ton of leaves on the trees in areas where there are lots of trees lining the roads. Other then that, I don't have many problems on the open roads.

As a matter of fact I was driving through downtown NYC yesterday and had no problems from tall buildings due to the repeaters put in place in large cities.

Only spots I've had problems with in GA is from an overhead canopy of leaves in some areas. No problem with downtown ATL. Will be in N.J. this summer but sans Patriot. I was sooooo tempted to do a roadtrip but just don't have the time.

Thanks everyone, sounds about what I expected. There are certain areas where signal is weak, certain spots on the Turnpike etc. and that's normal for satellite radio. Just curious if it was anything more than that.

Thanks!

I can echo the above posts. Only drop-outs I've had are on streets with a canopy of branches/leaves. The drop outs were brief.
