Looks like a great time. Sorry I missed it, though I'm pretty sure my 4x2 would have been pretty useless in that muck. The pics make me wish I'd gotten an FDII... Maybe it's time to start looking for a used XJ...

yeah, any 4X2's would have probably made it up the gravel road, but would have had to hop into a 4X4 when we headed into the trail.

I was really hoping we'd get a couple FDI's out, both CVT and 5sp. Next time!

Great vids and pics heckler:smiley_thumbs_up:if I didn't live so far away I would go for sure. I'd like to see what my FDI would do too. I like those super sliders on that red Pat.

Looks great Heckler, thanks for all the videos. I love the lift and the roof rack, just wish I could talk my wife into the lift, maybe in a few years when she wants a new vehicle. Looks like fun was had by all which is what really matters with Jeeps.

Was this a rated trail? I didn't see much wheel spin at all in the videos. Doesn't look that bad (maybe because the FDII handeled it gracefully?). I think an FDI could make it.

Tell us more about the trail? Tell us more about what the camera didn't show. Did you rev a lot? Did you notice a lot of wheel spin?

I think my old 02 dakota quad cab 4x4 could make it (except may that turn around the trees).

I took my dakota though 8" of mud before with michelin ltx/ms tires (stock). That was how I tested the tires to see if I wanted to upgrade them to off road tires when I first bought the truck. I ran bfg allterrain/TA on my 95 dakota club cab that I traded in on the 02 quad cab.

nice quality on the video. you picked some good angles and got some great shots.

out in BC there's way to many old skidder roads for them to have any ratings. In mountain bike lore, Vedder mountain is the worst place for guys to shuttle thier bikes up in the back of pickup trucks. Bike frames have been dented, and bikes have been bounced out the back. That's just the main road.

with the low gearing of the FDII, yeah, it's a simple crawl most of the time. I'm sure an FDI could have made most of what we did.

petbug surprised me when he told me he was in D on things I thought needed L. I just like the lower gearing for less stress on the transmission even if you don't "need" it.

Maybe he'll come on soon and tell us his side of the story. Where are you Peter?

Here's petbug on a tiny little stream crossing.

Most of the time, the rubber stays firmly planted and driving. However, once I get a video from my other buddy who came along, I'll tell a story of real wheelspin, and the story of a red patriot and a landcruiser.

Sorry guys to be silent so far, just too busy and coming home really late. We sure had a great time with heckler on Sunday. I had my camera too, but did not charge my battery, so I will post just a few pictures and maybe one video. My thanks to heckler for loaning me his spare, I sure as hell would drive those road with my "full size" (temporary) spare that came with my Pat. So far I got nowhere with Chrysler Canada in regards to rectifying this, check for my previous post on that subject...

I did indeed drive more then half the trails just in drive and 4 on, more difficult and wet section in low and hardest ones with ESP full off, low and 4x4. Riot just make it look so easy, it just keep on rolling, if you are sensible driver. I am more than impressed with its off road capability. Can't wait to get some better rubber under it.

Another little detail: I did fill up with 94 gas, not sure I needed it. When I came down from the mountain I expected some bad consumption, but it was very good.. my reading was only 12.4L/100 (about 19 MPG) and that is better then quite a few tanks of my standard driving average (a lot of city traffic and plugged highways).

I will try to upload something, if it works for me

I'll try to post some pictures:

Ready for some action

There must be some easier way to gather some fire wood... but it worked! I guess I was lucky the log was not 1/4" longer...
