My 2015 Sport came with the basic stock CD/MP3 Head Unit.

For those of you curious about swapping the head unit out here is what I bought, what I paid and how the install went.

Head Unit: Pioneer SPH-DA120 - $599.99 at Best Buy currently on sale for $499
Wiring Harness Adapter: Axxess ASWC-1 - $46.99 after Best Buy price matched Amazon
Dash Kit: Metra 95-6511 - $9.67 after Best Buy price matched Amazon
Antenna Adapter: Metra 40-EU10 - $4.67 after Best Buy price matched Amazon.

There is a metal bracket behind the factory radio that IS very difficult to remove. However I removed both screws from each side and manhandled it out.

The SPH-DA120 comes with a microphone (for voice commands and phone) and its own GPS antenna. Nav is provided by Apple Maps within CarPlay. Apple Maps will use your phone's data connection for updates, but uses the head units GPS antenna for its GPS coordinates and tracking.

The Axxess wiring harness will retain Steering Wheel controls and Accessory Power (head unit stays on for a moment when the key is turned off).

Total install time took around an hour and a half from start to finish. The final product looks very nice and fit perfectly without any modifications aside from removing the retention bracket behind the original radio.

I think the killer feature here is CarPlay, which the other suggested radios don't have.

OP, how do you like CarPlay?

I was thinking about upgrading my wife's Kenwood to the same Pioneer unit you bought, and played with it at Best Buy -- and walked away underwhelmed by CarPlay.
I thought it would give me a good iOS experience but everything felt clumsy. For example I wasn't able to drag and move the map around, you have to tap on arrows. And that's just one example of the many...

That thing looks beautiful!

I did the same install on mine about the same time you posted this. The sound is great and easy to use, Siri makes everything simple and 100% hands free. sound is great. i picked up mine from Crutchfield at around $640 with hardness, antenna adapter and brackets. Mail in rebate made it cost $540. I had never done any wiring at all and it was fairly easy.

I'm about to do a similar install on my '14 Patriot. I bought a Pioneer 4100NEX head unit, and the same wiring harness, etc you did. Also got a SiriusXM adapter and a backup camera. I was looking at the wiring harness that came with the radio and the harness adapter. Is it simply a matter of matching wire colors? I haven't pulled my radio out to look yet, but the aftermarket harness also has some additional small plugs. Do those match up somewhere to the factory wiring? I'm pretty handy, but I'm debating if I should take it somewhere to be installed.

Actually, the Axxess ASWC-1 is for the steering wheel controls. The wiring harness adapter I got to interface between the head unit wiring and the vehicle wiring is the Axxess LD-AX-XSVI-CH2.
