Hello all -

I have read the different threads regarding replacement of the front turn signal bulbs and how ridiculously inconvenient it is. I know that it is accessed through the wheel well, and that the three bolts right on the edge come off - those are easy. But I am confused about the "push pin" clip that is set further in... how exactly does that thing come off?

Does it pop off or what? Or should it unscrew or something? I just don't want to break it and screw everything up... what is the recommended tool for getting it off?

This entire ordeal is just ridiculous... how did Jeep manage to make changing a lightbulb into an afternoon of work?

you can use a flat heat screwdriver, insert screwdriver into the outer edge of the center circle, get enough of the screwdriver underneath it, and then try to turn the screwdriver clock/or counterclockwise to "lift" the center circle part up, and then hope you hear a click/pop that indicates the center circle has popped up.

and i agree, this is the poorest engineering anyone who have ever designed could have come up with. it makes absolutely no sense to make something that is often needed for access to be that difficult to access. i have had over 8 cars, and none of them needed this much trouble to get to a turn signal bulb.

oh, if you break the plastic black clip, its not a huge deal. its like $1 each.

thanks man, I will try a flathead and we'll see how that goes. Did you take the wheel off like the directions suggest? I've turned my wheel all the way to the side and just tried to work around it, though I could see where it might be a lot easier to work without it there.

Among the cursing and other profanity that I was spewing, I wondered... would it really kill Chrysler to make a metal screw?

Are those plastic screws available at hardware stores or do I have to visit Jeep for those, if I break one?

Don't forget to change your blinker fluid too!!!

:smiley_thumbs_up: Best way to change the front turn light bulb is in these few simple steps, as described in the users manual:
- take a few days off at work
- put vehicle on hoist
- take off wheels
- dismantle front grille and radiator
- remove engine
now you have easier access to the bulb housing, so take it out and play with it for a few hours in your workshop trying to pry it open with flatheads, crossheads, pinheads and otherheads. You will most likely brake it so go to nearest dealer and order a new one. Wait for a few weeks to get the new part (in the meantime you can do something simple and useful, like overhauling the engine), then install the bulb and put everything back again in reverse order. Check the blinker light for correct operation and, if need be, repeat the whole procedure.
Nothing to it fellas :D
