I haven't had a chance to program this into my scanguage, but in the past when I used the Torque App with my Bluetooth adaptor, it read CVT temps, and it was tied to the engine coolant, maybe that's wrong, but I can confirm with the engine coolant @ 112c, I don't have any transmission overtemp lights or issues. I've noticed winter or summer, my compass heats up to the same maximum temperature but doesn't go any higher. So something in the cooling system is working properly.

What sensor/code are you using for torque? When I had it working I thought with the temperature being so close to to the coolant that maybe that was just another coolant temp sensor.

It just came up as Transmission Temperature when I went to the add gauge menu, i'm using the pro (paid) version of torque if that makes a difference.
The only one that "works" on mine is transmission temperature method 1 and it matched identically to coolant temperature when I turned off my car a couple hours ago and I checked it periodically.

I also added in the jeep/Chrysler pids but only one got a response and it was 32°F the whole time.

I received the data loggers from scangauge/linear logic today and they are currently on my vehichle logging. I will get them sent back tomorrow and hopefully we'll have some results in a few days

Ok so I got my scangauge back today and tested the new codes. Transmission temp codes are acheived as well as some other ones. There is one that I would like someone else to try on theirs and see if their getting similar results so I can report back to linear logic. It's the cat temp. I'll post the code of someone is willing to put it in their systems and see what they get. Cold engine it reads normal temp but going down the highway once warmed up I'm reading like 1600 degrees Fahrenheit which I don't believe is correct. That would indicate a bad cat and at them temp stuff would be glowing red.

I've had the cat at 1600 a couple times, usually after hard prolonged acceleration. IIRC it's usually around 1200

sorry for the resurrection but to add my insight on the trans temp. I have been running my new firmware scangauge2 and the TFT reading is less than the water temp but barely the water temp hovers around 195-198 and the trans is at 165-180 and never peaked over 185. the higher temps was me in light traffic manually shifting also where it peaked at 185 this was also on a 90* day. the 165-175 is my average temp when driving conservative and either highway or city driving

Sodakriot - did you change any other settings on your SC2 to get those readings? What year is your patriot? Mine's an '07, and I'm having the same issues that Makins was having: My reading at idle shows a temp of 950ish... Not physically possible. Should be around yours.

so i just bought a 2017 4x4 6spd auto. my scan gauge from the trade is in the jeep now. Not sure what fw version i have as I bought last year in july 2016. Hoping for 4.22 as that is the version needed to read the tran temps for the 6spd auto...

otherwise i have to pay 25$ and ship back to scan gauge to upgrade.....

will find out soon what version I have...

i have 4.22 and was able to apply the codes and see my 6spd transmission temps!!!!!

life is good.
