Ok. So I changed my mind again. I'll explain why. Started with weathertech and liked them. The problem that I had was with the dome - like apparatus that sat over the factory hook allowed the mats to move back and forth too much.

Switched to Rugged Ridge and they seemed to be much better except the heel of my boots kept getting stuck in the grooves while driving. Not that big of a deal. With all of the snow that we've had recently, I found that the water/snow/slush was pooling in the front of the mat causing me to have to empty them out often. Add the fact that the Rugged Ridge mats are hard to get on and off from the factory hook, I would inadvertently spill on the carpet more often than not.

Frustrated, I then called weathertech at their factory store to advise them of the fitment issues I had with the original mats I purchased. They told me that they redesigned the mats for the Patriot due to the fitment complaints. A short drive later, I purchased the newer weathertech mats and no more fitment issues!! Because these mats have a flatter surface, they spread the water over a larger area allowing it to evaporate instead of pooling in deep channels.

I gave my original weathertech mats to my father who has a 2011 Compass and sold the Rugged Ridge mats to a co-worker for what I paid for them. So long story short (too late) :blah: I'm a fan of the weathertech mats again. They don't look as "tough" but for my needs, they are more practical.
After having problems with 2 sets of husky liners i eventually bought Weathertechs. Weathertechs seem to work very well but there can be some improvements.I would like to see the Rugged Ridge mats in person since they get such good reviews. It does appear that your new weathertechs hug the floor a bit better than mine.Is there a hole through the mat now for the floormat hook? Its hard to tell in the picture. Come to think of it,im wondering if my weathertechs have the hole in the for the hook? hmmmmm.

Yes there is a hole for the hook now. Fits very well and is surrounded by a raised lip. The older ones I had just had a raised pocket underneath that sat over the hook. That's what was allowing all of the movement.

Sh**! Now I wish I had a new set of weathertechs. Glad to see them redesigning old mats. Did they raise any of the mat farther to cover the left footrest?

I have weather techs in the front of both my Patriot and the wife's Compass. Not a fan that it doesn't hook onto that mat hook the greatest and moves but I have dealt with it this far. In the rear of my Patriot I have the rugged for rear passenger's and dog. I didn't want to spend the money on weather tech for back there when there really isn't that many people back there. I really cheaped out got the Jeep rear cargo liner as I just wanted something to protect the area more than carpet and it was cheap.

My wife's Weathertechs are curling up on the outer parts of the mat, front and rear, besides sliding all around. If all they did was "redesign" the floor hook receptacle, then I would think they are still sub-standard, certainly so compared to the Rugged Ridge liners I have in my Pat, which are handling this winter far better than my wife's WeatherTechs.
