I'm in need of new wipers for my 07 Patriot but I'm not sure what kind I should get. I was looking for some info on the new types that are out there. Also, what size should I look for? The factory ones are okay but they get all iced up in the winter. Has anyone tried the bracketless ones or have any winter ones they recommend?

Also, anyone have problems with the windows constantly fogging up...especially if you have passengers? I have to run my defroster all winter long or I can't see out my windows. It's crazy.

i bought my patriot in june 07 and am still using the stock wipers and they are running really good. i bought some michelin winter ones that are like a blade without the brackets, and broke after 2 days. these stock wipers r the best one ive ever had. lol very strong brakets and they didnt bend like other ones usually do

I still have the origs, but other forums have recommended Bosch Icons, Michelin, PIAA and Rain-X replacement wiper blades. The Rain-X probably cost the least and are readily available.

Also have the fogging problem, particularly side windows, which I'm attributing to the cold weather.

Fogging

Leaving a window cracked when moving helps to remove humid air (from snow melt on boots) and other moisture. I have ventshades and leave my rear windows open 1/2" all of the time. No moisture, better heat/air flow from the climate control systems. Good Luck!

Do you have a nifty set of floor guards like so many of us have discussed here?
Either Husky liners or Weathertech? If not, that is your problem. You have several gallons of melted salty water lurking in and under your carpet. When you turn on the heat the water evaporates and sticks to the coldest surface, the window.

I still have the factory wipers so I got nothing for you there.

Well I do have the slush mats so I know that isn't the problem. I've heard from the dealer that it could be a problem with the recirculate door being stuck open or closed and causing the fogging so at my next oil change I'm going to have them take a look and see what the problem is. I keep getting ice along the bottom of my windshield on the inside so I'm hoping it doesn't have a bad seal.
I wouldn't normally get wipers yet but the passenger one has a tear in the rubber towards the top.

O.K., since you know it isn't water in the rug, you can check the function of your cabin vent door yourself if you like. Open the glove box and pinch the sides together like you were going to change the cabin air filter. The glove box door will flip open all the way and can be removed if you desire. Above the location of the filter there is a rotary "door" that either recirculates the air from the car or brings in fresh from outside. Set the knob to defrost and floor, then turn the system on and off by turning the fan from off to any of the on positions, you will see the door open and close as the fan switch turns the system on and off. Normally the vent door is closed to recirculate when the system is off. As soon as the fan comes on the door turns to take air from outside. (unless you have chosen the recirculate button)

I had a car once where the vent door was stuck on recirculate and it would fog up the windows something fierce.

Good luck!

Just another + from my point of view. The original equipment wipers are outstanding. I also have not had any pitting which some see as a concern.

Mopar OEM wiper blades work very well. The MOPAR blades that you can get at the dealership suck. The OEM blades cost quite a bit more. MOPAR makes a value line series, which is what you will get at the dealer. I have never had good luck with them.
Since the dealership I work at is Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, as well as Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, I decided to give the Motorcraft Supreme wiper blades a try. They are by far the best wipers I have used. They last a long time, and are not too expensive.

Interesting. I have discovered many Motorcraft items are very good quality. AMC used a lot of Motorcraft parts in the ignition systems.

The problem of fogging is caused by the lack of fresh air.

First do not use the recirculate mode. Use the fresh air setting. Recirculate just keeps the moisture level high. The more people in the vehicle the worst will be the problem. People are putting out the moisture by breathing. Plus any moisture from wet clothing, etc.

Do you ever wear ski goggles? What happens if you also wear a face mask. Your breath gets into the goggles and they fog. Same problem, moist air from your breathing into a confined space.

Second lower a window to let in fresh air. Often only a inch or so will take care of the problem. Or every few minutes roll down a window a few inches to exchange the air in the vehicle.

I spend a lot of time around ski resorts in Colorado and whenever you see a car with fogged windows you can see that all of the windows are closed and I would bet that they have the recirculate air setting turned on.

emo812 - Not sure if you ever got new wipers, but I was in a PEP Boys over the week-end and saw Rain-X Latitude wipers 2 for the price of 1 with mail-in rebate. These are normally $19.95 apiece and look to be pretty good all weather wipers.

i bought a set of the Michelin Radius wipers from Costco a while back, and i hate them! those one piece rubber wipers dont seem to contour to our windshields that well. leaves gaps and streaks on the glass. i think our stock Mopar's are great and the frame is best fit. i will buy some PIAA refills in the spring.
