Has anyone with a 2.0 CRD (VW BKD Engine) Jeep engine code ECE or ECD changed the timing belt using the locking pins and then had issues with fuel timing?

The same engine is used in various VAG vehicles including the Audi A3 and VW Golf MK5. The VAG process for changing the timing belt is exactly the same as Jeep's, except VW reset the fuel pump timing with VAGCOM.

Jeep do not have a process for resetting the fuel pump timing and cannot even tell me IF it can be done with WiTech.

Fuel timing with these engines is critical and this seems crazy. VW cannot do it as VAGCOM cannot talk to the Patriot's ECU

as i said before,the garage changed my timing belt the classic way,respecting the factory marks alignment.
after the nob was done,they checked with a program,not vag's program,but a program that has chrysler vehicle data as well.
definitely no fuel pump timing was done.
my jeep runs excellent.
will ask about this tomorrow and get back to you.

I would expect it to if there were no symptoms pointing towards fuel timing. However, if the vehicle presents certain symptoms, the fuel timing should be carried out and at the very least the values should be checked in WiTech as part of the belt change and rectified as necessary

My point is really that Jeep have no procedure for this but VW do on exactly the same engine. This results in Jeep charging lots of money for unnecessary diagnostics when problems should have been solved as part of a timing belt change. It's a ripoff.

There are also other inconsistencies. For example, when changing an injector or injector seals, all Jeep replace is the injector or the seals and the 2 stretch bolts. VW, on the other hand, will also change the 5 rocker shaft bolts because of a known problem.

totally agree on the rip off.
that's why it should be done with a vw specialist.
 
But, that's the problem. Although the belt can be changed by a VW garage, VAGCOM cannot talk to the car in order to see the values in order to correct the fuel timing
from what i understand from my garage,if propely done,you don't need fuel pump timing
 
This is very true, but sometimes it needs to be done, but the main problem is that the Jeep procedure for changing the timing belt does not even require them to check the values to make sure the pump timing is OK.
i guess they just don't want or don't know they have to do it.
anyway,there are software programs that can do that as vag doesn't work on chrysler models.
