Hi my Canadian brothers.

I recently bought an item through a website from BC and it doesn't really do what they claim on their website.

In Australia you are entitled to a full refund if a product doesn't do what it is supposed to.

So I was wondering, what is the law in Canada with regards to misleading advertising and refunds?

Can some one link me to any specific consume help websites?

Cheers

I'm not a Canadian but here is the website I came up with through Google - http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/oca-bc.nsf/eng/h_ca02224.html

I don't think you will be able to get much help since this was an international transaction and you may have to go through Australia's Consumer Protection laws. If you paid for the transaction by credit card the best solution would be to dispute the charge and let the credit card company fight for you. Good luck.

A CDi unit for a scooter from Jiangwayne.com.au/scooter

they claimed it would increase my scooter speed to 75kph on the flat, and it doesnt.

they are now saying it will only give that increase going down hill or on a 5km straight

I would ask them to take it back for a refund. Check out thier facebook page. If you're on facebook, you could use it to lodge a complaint against them.

your other option is the Better Business Bureau, although if they're not a member, and just a small, 3 person company importing Chinese scooter parts for the next 6 months, they may not care. But I'm guessing since they have their names and faces on the website, they may care about their company's image online and with the BBB.

This is why I don't buy much online. Pretty difficult to return anything.

Why not try to sell it on a scooter forum?

Something like that happened to me. If you paid with a credit card, contact them, they can stop payment or pay you back, if item is returned, not received or has a default. I also used the Better Busoiness Bureau to fill a complain against that same company. Visa gave me a credit for the missing part They then charge the seller.

Bought 57 items on Ebay with credit card.No trouble except once. sent back a pair of foot rests for my bike (wrong model) and they sent back the proper model. Don't forget sellers on line have a repution to preserve.

Got a credit to pay for an item (roll bag) which needed an assembling modification on retaining straps. Had it fixed here by a shoemaker. Cheaper than sending it back and forth.

Just insist and don't let go. «Customer is always right».
