Okay so I used the removing the grommet method to run my amp wire and I got it through and tucked in side paneling all the way to the truck but I couldn't push the grommet back in of course because the amp wire was in the way, should I be worried of it only partially installed (pushed back in) or what?

mine didnt go back in at all. i used 2g wire and it almost fills the opening. i havnt had any problems with the grommet out. one thing that could happen though, if you wash your engine or maybe wash yur pat from under, water can get in.

You can always apply some automotive silicone to the hole to fill it if your worried about water getting through the hole.

I would go to an autoshop and buy a grommet to fit it.

The metal of the firewall could rub through the wire and cause a short.

A few cents now will save you a world of heartache later.

I actually did both I put the grommet in to protect the wire and also filled any gap in the hole with silicone for protecting from any water/snow/slush/mud/road grime.
