Sounds like you're off to a great start!
What future plans do you have?
Here are my planned upgrades in no particular order:

Mounting the 20" 5 spoke alloy wheels once I get my tires
Replace the factory headunit with a Clarion NX404 including reverse camera and bluetooth mic
Remove headliner to provide support for 2 overhead monitors (thinking balsa wood sandwiched between layers of carbon fiber/fibergalss riveted to roof "straps"
Install black exhaust tip
Replace shifter with something "better"

Haven't decided what components to replace the stock speakers with or whether I'm going to install amps and all that jazz.

Looks like an awesome list to start with. Just to provide some help I'll link a picture of my interior removed to see the "straps" you had referred to. I'm not sure how easy it will be to mount onto those.

Thanks. Your picture is actually what made me realize there was something up there I could work with. Do you remember if those "straps" were solid steel or a u bar/box? Are they welded directly to the ceiling? If there is any space, I can work with to create a plate for the overhead monitors to be bolted/riveted to...

They have an indention almost like a u shape.
They aren't directly on the room, there is a bit of a gap so I think you could definitely figure something out.
Now that sounds like that's something I can work with. I've checked out your Riot a few times and have been admiring the look of your custom headlights. Now I'm off to study the look and the pictures...

So it's been about a week since I updated this thread as I've been busy.

Clarion NX404 arrived this week and has since been installed (by me):

Even added a USB jack to the switch stack for that factory look. A second USB jack is in the glove.

Overall, I am very happy with the look of the install and functionality of the head unit. Not having to rely on my smartphone for gps is a huge plus, although the blutooth could be better. I've also installed a backup camera, but no pictures of that yet.
