Thought I would share this with the fine people here at Jeeppatriot.

About a week or so ago I hit 50k km (31K mi) on the OD.:pepper: I managed to look down just in time to see I was sitting at 49,998 so I quickly jiggled my phone twice to activate the camera (thanks Moto X) and snapped a photo to mark the occasion. The half century mark only took me 4 years and 4 months!!:D

I've taken it up north to cottage country a few times and a couple of times

down to Buffalo for some cross-border shopping but thats it really. I stay mainly

in the greater Toronto area. The secret to longevity is keeping the mileage

down to a respectable annual amount, wash and wax and general maintenance.

My last car a 1992 Eagle Talon gave me 320,000 km of trouble free driving

over 16 years and when I sold it it still looked in showroom condition.

I don't think the Pat will go that long but we'll see.

I have a co-worker that bought a 2010 a couple of months before me and she

has already sold it with 160,000 km on it because it needed $3k of suspension

work. She now drive a 2014 Ford Edge fully loaded with leather seats and

panoramic sunroof-nice vehicle!!!

You're like my idol! Lol I plan on fixing up a yellow 79 ford fiesta 4 speed I have and using that as my daily, and using the Patriot if friends and I wanna go to the lake, or Vegas strip. Ive had a 96 stratus wrecked at 220k miles, and a 12 focus I sold with 55k. The pat is still under 500 and im loving it :)

Your friends car sounds too good to dislike, even though im not a fan of the way suvs are looking (rounded, thata a reason the patriot stuck out with its boxy look)

Yeah I know what you mean about the boxy look. I chose the Patriot

because of the look, smallish size, flexibility and price. All others on the market

were either soap bar looking ugly or too big or not available with a 5 speed. I

love the fact that I lose it sometimes in a parking lot because its buried behind

some huge gas hogging suv. Thats when you realize its just the perfect size!!!

Well thats even better mileage than me!! That should last you a while

mechanically speaking but as for rusting out well that a different story. This is

where you can be proactive with rust inhibitors to save the body and under

carriage.

My 08 when I traded it was rusting bad, even though I washed it after every time I got road salt on it, and underneath really well too. Nothing I waxed was rusty though, good thing I wax everything, inside and out, under the hood, inside doors and hatch, etc.

For my 14 I am going to Fluid Film everything metal before each winter. Have one can, and picked up 3 more cans at Graingers yesterday.

Mine went through 5 PA winters where they use road salt, and had over 135K miles on it. Body looked brand new, as I always kept fresh wax on it and washed often.

I'm that guy at the car wash washing his car anytime I can without the water freezing instantly. Some times I had to dry really fast before it froze, and would leave it running with the heater on high and the fan on high.
