My Patriot is a 2007 with the 2.0 CRD 4WD with the Volkswagen PD engine and Aisin BG6 6 Speed Gearbox

I think I am going to need to get my clutch replaced and the dual mass flywheel. I have phoned the two nearest Jeep dealers, one quoted £767 and the other £952 :wow:
Then I phoned and independent clutch specialist and got the quote to £740, they were the most helpful and explained that some companies juts quote for the clutch then add the flywheel on once your car is in pieces. Apparently I also will need a concentric slave cylinder as well.

Looking online I can get all the parts, a Luk Clutch Kit and Slave cylinder and Sachs DMF for around £430. I have done quote a bit of mechanical work over the years but never a clutch and wondered if anybody has done it on here and if so what should I be looking out for or any tips and tricks.

Thank you for any help you can give

yes you'll need flywheel and slave cylinder

to be honest, if the independent will do it all for that price, i would get them to do it....at least you get a guarantee that it's done properly

are you buying OEM or other?

The parts I have sourced are from Luk and Sachs, and lots of reading from various forums show they are the same as OEM without the bumped up price tag.

I hear what you are saying about the garage doing the job, but I would like to give it a go if possible, just dont want to have it apart and then find I need a part I wasn't aware of.

Hopefully someone who has done it can let me know of any pitfulls.

shouldn't be too hard to find someone with the experience

this is a US based forum, maybe someone can help - but they never got the CRD

we had our clutch, flywheel and slave done by the $tealership under warranty !

if you do it yourself - please take some photos and then you can help the next person !

:)

careful, you will need a special tool for tuning the seal between the back of the engine and gearbox.
if changing the whole clutch system, you will need the disc, the dual mas flywheel, the clutch slave cilinder and the seal between the back of the engine and gearbox.
this seal has a magnetic reader that has something to do with regulating engine rpm.
its a vw audi thing and you will need a special vw audi tool to get the old one out , the new one in and tune it.
been there,as i replaced the clutch two years ago.
go for sachs,good quality.

Thanks for the heads up Goguadi, have you any more info on this tool? Did you post anything on this forum when you did the replacement? It would be good to see someone else's work method.

did it in an idependent garage specialized in vw audi.
they have the tool at hand.
from what i understand it is very important,as otherwise your engine rpm will go wild.
so i've been told.
