5 weeks into ownership (less than 600 miles covered, now on 808 miles)

1) grinding from front brakes when braking at low speed
2) squeak from front left at low speed
3) rear passenger door/window seal not sealing correctly in one corner

It will be going back to the dealer as soon as I can be without the car for a few days.

no problem

Fortunately, my 5-speed no frill 'tin can' has no problem to speak off, except for the occasional annoying engine check lite warnings. The SG shows an OBD scan code of P0455, an emission control warning, which resets when I swap the OEM gas cap with the motorad locking one, and vice-versa.

My 2wd Riot was built in May 08. No leaks, no fappen hood, no squeaks, quiet & smooth manual tranny. touch wood.:smiley_thumbs_up:

build date

The build date (mm/yy) along with lots of other figures are printed on a white mylar label stuck to side of the driver door. It also shows separate GAWR (gross a? weight rating) for the front axle vs the rear. Other numbers I have yet to decipher.

Anyway, I had other info source: since mine was a factory order, which also allowed me track the build status codes thru their hotline in India. In May, I phoned them weekly to track progress using the status codes, and hoping that the crucial assemblies didn't happen on a Monday or Friday ;). Although there nothing I could do about it.

It appeared that my Riot was not assembled on those 'lemon' days. :)

According to folklores, Mondays and Fridays are lemon days in many workplaces. Workers are not a their peak competences on those days, since workers drag themselves to work after a fun weekend: brain is stuck on 1st gear . Similarly many workers (including pencil pushers) are on TGIF mode by Friday afternoon: brain is on overdrive to quickly wrap things up. :pepper:

maybe we can get some chrysler workers to chime in, but maybe they do some kind of shift like 4 days on 3 days off, theres a weekend crew. THat said, dang it mine was build oct 13, monday :( it isn't at the dealer yet as far as I know, but anyway I am 7000 miles away and $2k from purchasing it :p

hey sgtarky, To ease your mind on the lemon Monday urban myth, just inspect the new Jeep very thoroughly before taking delivery.

My new Riot sat on the dealer's lot for 10 days before I accepted the goods, b/c of delays and unexpected finagling with mopar skid plate dealer install on 2wd. I secretly welcomed the delay b/c of the heavy rainfalls during June. It was a surefire bunch of tests for leaks. My newly minted Riot was bone dried inside.:)

Maybe you can test the new ride with the salesman thru the car wash a few times before accepting delivery. You have some time to think of excuses to delay acceptance. LOL

Don't forget to test for flapping hood on the hwy; leakage around your sunroof, doors, windshield mouldings etc. Noisy manual tranny on hwy? good luck.

I presume this is the white label on the B pillar that is passenger side for UK owners? ;)

Right! We colonials know nothin' about British cars & driving habits. LOL.

You chaps on the other side of the pond drive on the wrong side of the road; so I wouldn't be surprised that the white label is stuck to the wrong door near the B pillar.

Check both front doors to be sure. ta ta.

my front suspension started to make lots of noise, like and old car, started to deviate to the right, then to the left, like torque steer, but at constant speed, took it to the dealer, tightened some bolts and nuts and problem solved

they claimed that not all bolts and nuts come well tighten, wich makes me wonder if something will get loose and cause an accident

however the solution took less than a day, the problem started to manifest then it got gradually more evident so i had plenty of time to go to the dealer (weeks)

cheers
