Hi Guy's,

I've noticed that while driving a while the front console(where the aircon dial is) that area(plastic) gets a bit warm during driving.

Anyone else notice this on there Pat?

I mean its no probs. Everything works the way it should etc... but this area for some reason the plastic console facia gets a bit warm.

Just wondering if this is normal?

Mine does the same thing. They really do get very warm. Im wondering if this may cause a problem with the plastic in the future. All of that heating up and cooling down, especially in the colder climates, may make the plastic brittle.

I guess we will see in a few years.

I think somone mentioned it had to do with the resistors in place for the dials.

The controls for the A/C are just resistors.

They limit the electricity going through the system (to fan/AC etc).

You'll probably find they heat up more when they are resisting more (eg Fan on low speed).

I find that some times a very small adjustment will mean they run a lot cooler.

There is the possibility for these to melt. This happened to me about 10 years ago in a SEAT Cordoba. I had to buy a whole new set $$$.

Not much can be done, if you complain to the dealer they'll just adjust them a little and say theyre fine.

Back in the cargo area. Flip up the hatch and you should see it, or you might have to move some sound deadening material.
