My 2014 Patriot with 2700 kilometers on it doesnt always go into reverse the way it should. it seems to bind up and sometimes I am in 4th or its not all the way in and grinds. All the other gears are perfect, just reverse not right.
Does this just need to wear in? I'm wondering about going back to the dealer..
Any advise?

that's not normal on any vehice.
go to the dealer as you are covered by warranty.
might need adjusting but something might be wrong with the tranny as well.let them fix it.

Check to make sure your floor mat hasn't shift causing the clutch not to fully disengage. This actually happened on my wife's VW--I thought that was splitting hairs, but it did make a difference. Many of us are used to the old mechanical linkage clutches, they didn't need to go all the way to the floor to disengage, but these hydraulic ones--well who knows...

A lot of people on this forum with the 5 speed including me have had difficulty finding reverse right out of the box. Give the tranny some time to work itself in. Mine slides in no problem now.

Thanks to everyone, I'm going to check the floor mats cause I did add aftermmarket ones, and put em on top of the factory carpet ones. I've got plenty of warranty so if in a coupple off thoouddsannd kkilometteerrs its not wwworn in I'll go see the dealer ..
I rerally likeee this jeeep,I have yet to take it off road to see how it acts going up a slippery hill. I hear the eng looses power and its usless, maybe just with the off road trans which I dont have .

Thanks everybody, I pulled my aftermarket floormats back from under the clutch pedal and have no problem since. I don't know if that was the reason ( I'm not going to shove them back under to find out) ,or if its just getting broken in, I stil have only 3thoudand kilometers on it or so.

I think jack.allwardt and elgreco together nailed it - the floor mats weren't allowing the clutch to fully disengage, and since reverse gear isn't syncronized, the input shaft was still slightly spinning.
