I am bummed - I ordered my Jeep over 7 weeks ago and they still have not started it yet......

I have heard a whole bunch of excuses - on allocation, too much demand, can't build enough, etc....

I guess this gives me more time to save for more of a down payment. I have to find a bright side somewhere. My daughted gets her license in January, she is getting my current car - I hope I have it by then although I will not mind her not driving a little longer;)

Come on Chrysler.................

Yea I can feel you on the driving thing. My sister just turned 16 and I hate seeing her drive, not because of her, because I dont trust 90% of the people on the road.

Hope your Pat gets built soon. You will def love the trade off!

Assuming we're talking about a 2009, I've been told by three different dealers that production for certain builds, namely the Limited with Security and Cargo group has a production delay until November.

When I asked specifically why, I was told that the Chrysler factory reps who visit the dealers were stating a supply problem of some part or material.

I don't know if or how this affects other models. And I wonder also if Jeep is just blowing smoke and they've actually shut down the plant to allow demand to catch up with supply which car makers do sometimes, but they don't want to admit a production holdback because it looks bad.

In any case, ordering one (above configuration) now means December delivery. *boo hiss*

Are you talking with the dealer or Chrylser? When I checked on the status of mine I called Chrysler/Jeep directly and they gave me number so when I called back to check the progree it's easier for them to "locate" the progress. There is a thread that has the number and stages of building..just gotta find it.. to bump it up.

If I were you, I'll go check out other dealers...
7 weeks with so many excuses is enough to tell that your current dealer has bad customer service....
.......and poor relations with Chrysler corporate.

I have been buying cars - other than jeep - from this dealer for almost 18 years. The dealer is a good one. The problem is Chrysler. They backed off all of their production and I am trying to buy an 09 when there are many 08's on the lot. I have heard more than once now that the Patriots are selling but they are not ramping up production right now to meet demand.

I do not want to guess on what is happening - my dealer has been pretty up front on the whole thing and they are trying. A story is a story though and it has been on order for over 7 weeks. You would think Chrysler would jump on a sold car instead of wrapping me up in their allocation engine.

How hard is it to bump up a sold car into production over one that is being built to be put on a dealers lot.?? If I was money strapped I know what I would do.

I will need to search for that phone number for Chrysler - I have no problem calling them relentlessly to find out what is going on.

Still can't find the thread, but if you go to Jeep.com "Owners" section, on the right towards the bottom "contact us" and then New Vehicle info there's a link for email or phone 1-800 925-Jeep(5337) from 8am-12midnight eastern time. They should be able to give you the number to find the progress of the build.
Actually I just found the number they gave me.. 1-800 992-1970. They should also be able to give you the VIN #

I will give it a try - The VIN# is what I have been waiting for from the dealer and that is what Chrysler has not assigned yet - at least not in their on-line system.....
