Hey guys, my 5 spd transmission went out so i was thinking of getting a 6spd from a caliber SRT 4, just curious if it would bolt up or need an adapter plate...or if it wouldnt even work, TIA

It's possible, but WAYYYY more trouble than it's worth. I believe there's a thread or 2 here if you search.

Welcome to the forums.

You didn't mention if you have the 4x4 or the FWD, but the Getrag 6 speed from the SRT4 is FWD only.

That said, following this thread might be helpful:

Mine hasn't gone out, but it's thinking about it. Presuming I get it fixed, I'm going with a new or rebuilt OEM.

Ya ill probably have to look at rebuild but figured 6spd could get even better gas mileage

Do you have the 2.4 or 2.0? The 2.0 might not be able to turn the taller gear ratio. My 2.0/5-spd spends a lot of time in 4th and even 3rd on hills.

I have the 2.4 so it should be good
Sorry to thread jack but how hard would it be to convert the 5 speed into awd? I currently have a 5 speed caliber with a srt 4 swap. I was going to do the 6 speed swap but it looks like the 5 speed may be simpler to swap to AWD:)

Also what was the EOL for your 5 speed transmission symptoms?

I started losing gears and thought it was a clutxh then took it to a buddy that owns a transmission shop and said some bearings or gears or something inside sounded like they were destroyed
My friend I had something like that happen to me. I felt my clutch pedal pop and then noticed i could not shift into 4th gear. then i had a hard time shifting into all my gears. I took the transmission down and it happen to be the spring in my clutch got destroyed. My transmission fluid had no shavings as well.

I am pretty sure it is just your clutch if the fluid looks good.

Fluid was a little low but it would go into 4th and 3rd gear but pop on from time to time, thats why i took it to my buddies shop
