I learned from the school of hard knocks that torque wrench use on thin, crushable, low torque gaskets can be tricky. 70 inch pounds is only 5.8 foot pounds. The mistake I made first time using a torque wrench is torquing to spec., then going around and doing it again until the gasket gets crushed too much. I think what happens is you torque it to 70 inch pounds, the gasket relaxes a bit, and if you go around again you can continue to tighten it more to hit 70 inch pounds again and again. Does that make sense?
Felpro gaskets seem to be very high quality and more substantial than the ones you find in filter kits.
