Happy Holidays to all.Replaced both filters,I stalled new gasket. Do I put any oil on new gasket or apply and torque dry. Does anyone know the Torque on the 4 bolts to Paper filter And the pan bolts. I believe it's 70 on pan ,not sure on 4 to filter. Thanks

Torque specs:

Transmission pan bolt torque spec is 8 N·m or 70 inch lbs.

The three bolts for the pan strainer are also torqued to 8 N·m or 70 inch lbs.

The 4 bolts on the soup can / plate (paper filter) are torqued to 4 N·m or 37 inch lbs.

Be careful as they can strip real easy.

Hi to All,
Would the torque value vary between nitrile and cork type gaskets?

thanks.

I learned from the school of hard knocks that torque wrench use on thin, crushable, low torque gaskets can be tricky. 70 inch pounds is only 5.8 foot pounds. The mistake I made first time using a torque wrench is torquing to spec., then going around and doing it again until the gasket gets crushed too much. I think what happens is you torque it to 70 inch pounds, the gasket relaxes a bit, and if you go around again you can continue to tighten it more to hit 70 inch pounds again and again. Does that make sense?

Felpro gaskets seem to be very high quality and more substantial than the ones you find in filter kits.

If it's an OEM spec'd gasket I'd say no, unless the manufacturer has instructions otherwise.

I used a Felpro on the last change, went on easy, no leaks, torqued to spec.
Thanks for that, due to the unavailability to get complete kits here in Australia, I ordered one from the US via Amazon - I torqued the nitrile gasket in stages to 40”lbs & afraid to extrude the rubber left it at that - so far so good but will monitor.
