I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot with just over 100,000 miles. I had changed both of my outer tie rods at 72,000 miles. Then at 98,000 miles one failed and I had the garage I go to just replace it. Well recently I noticed the ball joint was exposed as the boot had pulled back. Instead of going to them I just went and replaced it. While I was torquing the new castle nut on something wasn't right because it didn't click yet. I pulled the socket off of the nut and I'm a good half inch or more past the cotter pin hole. I could of kept going too. It's not the wrench because i torque my lug nuts with no problems. Am I going to need a new knuckle? If so what brand should I go with? What else could be wrong? should I plan to replace cv axles too if it is the knuckle? I swear all of my joints and bushings failed relatively close to each other.


I just want to get on the road again and go fishing!
